Dear readers,

If all goes well I will go to Pattaya again in January, my driving licenses, scooter will expire January 30, 2022, how much time do I have to renew it?

My driving license does not expire until January 2024, can I extend it early?

Thanks in advance for thinking along.

Hopefully we will see each other again soon in beautiful Thailand….

Regards,

Willy

My driving licenses have expired since Dec 31, 2020 and I have time until Dec 31, 2021 to renew them without any additional conditions.

You can renew an expired driver's license up to a year after the date, sorry, I mean renew.
It must be busy because due to covid, the renewal and issuing of passports had stopped. it will be possible again from 1 September.
Please note that you are not allowed to drive with an expired driver's license.

coordinated with the Royal Thai Police (RTP) to extend the expiry date of driving licenses and allow them to be used until December 31, 2021.

If your driving license expires after the reopening, September 01, then you simply have to renew it on time. It seems to me that the said regulation only applied to driving licenses whose validity expired during the closure of the DLT offices. And one point that certainly counts is that if you get involved in an accident, the Thai police can allow you to drive with an expired driver's license, but the insurance company can claim that you are driving with an invalid driver's license and are therefore not insured.

The pressure is okay. Did everything that needed to be done online on the DLT website today and can already go to Cha-am tomorrow (7-9) to renew a motorcycle driver's license. A month ago everything was closed only some staff and they told me that I could continue chugging with my moped!!

oops, passports should of course be driver's licenses.

    On the DLT website;

    REMARK :

    1

IN CASE OF DRIVING LICENSE EXPIRED MORE THAN 1 YEAR
    – TAKE A THEORY TEST

    2

IN CASE OF DRIVING LICENSE EXPIRED MORE THAN 3 YEARS
    – TAKE A THEORY TEST AND PRACTICAL TEST

Been to pattaya at the end of June to renew both car and motorcycle license.
Bring the necessary papers, color test and interest rate done, then pay and take a photo and was outside again within 1 hour with 2 new driver's licenses.
This is also the case in Thailand.

Interest rate is of course a brake test
