Thailand question: How do I get a BSN number and DigiD?
Dear readers,
I live in Thailand. Worked here. Am 65 years old. Do not have a citizen service number or DigiD. Would like to apply for this from Thailand. How do I do that? Have my pension November 2022.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Jan
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
Jan, the BSN has existed since 2007. I assume that you no longer lived in NL after 2007?
But before the BSN we had the tax number so I wouldn't be surprised if you really do have this. Look up an old income tax assessment, it is fixed there. Is it not in your passport? On the photo page there are a few lines with numbers at the bottom, it can just be there at the end.
In this blog, questions about BSN and DigiD have been asked before. Use the search function at the top left and you will see those messages.
I have been from the Netherlands since 1992.
BSN number:
https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/privacy-en-persoonsgegevens/vraag-en-antwoord/hoe-kom-ik-aan-een-burgerservicenummer-bsn
DigiD:
https://digid.nl/aanvragen_buitenland
via the website DigID .. So http://www.digid.nl.
This refers to: digid.nl/aanvragen.
BSN : is on your passport. Are the last 9 digits in the series of numbers at the bottom of your passport. And with passports after 2014 it is on the back of the holder page, which is the back of the page with your photo on it. If you do not have one, this must be done in person for those who live outside the Netherlands at one of the 19 municipalities with an RNI counter (registration of non-residents) in the Netherlands. For example: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven.
If you did have a BSN no. but have lost it, you can request it via website SBV-Z (date of birth, gender, house number and zip code or date of birth, gender and family name.
Good luck. Theo
Hello Jan.
Assuming that obtaining a BSN and a DigiD number are not urgent matters for you, it seems to me the easiest way to wait until you apply to the SVB to receive an AOW benefit. You can do this 6 months before your AOW starts. The SVB then registers you with the NRI (Registration of Non Residents) and ensures that you receive a BSN number.
To be able to apply for a Digid, you must have a BSN number. Other conditions for this are: having the Dutch nationality, a valid passport, being registered with the NRI, being in possession of a telephone on which you can receive text messages, both from the Netherlands and from abroad and having an email address . If you have arranged your state pension with the SVB, you can also apply for a Digid via the SVB. In that case you do not have to go to the Embassy in Bangkok to receive a counter code. If you apply for the DigiD number via Digid.nl, you will have to collect the counter code yourself in Bangkok.
This is not the fastest way to get both numbers, but it seems to me the easiest
Success.
Guus
The BSN is a continuation of the SOFI number, it can be found on the back of the photo page in the Dutch Passport.
Ben is easy. But on the digid websites you are always thrown into a rut. They report that you can request it by email but not which email etcetera. All very unnecessarily complicated. I have emailed several times with all the info in it and never got a reply!
Skippy,
Here (https://digid.nl/aanvragen_buitenland) you must apply for your DigiD if you live abroad.
I've wanted to request a Digi D code for a long time, but what always stopped me from traveling to Bangkok just to pick up a simple code.
Why they never managed to realize this from Bangkok via EMS after telephone or email consultation of sending back and forth original passport with costs paid by the recipient is still a mystery to me.
I also have a pension from the SVB, the AOW.
By the way, thanks for the tip on this blog, let's see if it actually works as described here.
Jan Beute.
janbeute,
If you can make video calls, you no longer have to go to Bangkok to collect your code.
https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/wonen-werken/digid-buitenland/digid/digid-ophalen-via-videobellen
I applied for my Digi D at the embassy in Bangkok. Thailand is one of the few countries where this is possible. Send an email to the embassy to make an appointment.
https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/wonen-werken/digid-buitenland/digid/digid-ophalen-in-thailand
Since a few months, you only need a PC or laptop to request and activate a DigiD. You will receive the activation code via a live video chat with minbuza.
It works very simply now and you no longer have to leave the house, first request a new DigiD and then make a video appointment
