Dear readers,

The guarantee fund of the Thai banks is 1.000.000 Baht. I heard today that only Thai residents can possibly claim this.

Is this true or does the guarantee fund also apply to foreign bank account holders?

Regards,

Willem

Willem, take a look at this link. It says 'any depositor' if in THB; nationality is not mentioned.

But, Willem, it is per bank institution, not per branch.

    Keep an eye on :
Foreign accounts (Euro/Dollar etc. accounts) are not covered by the deposit guarantee, only accounts in Thai Baht are.

      foreign accounts ?
Shouldn't that be “Foreign Currency Accounts”?

Philiberreke, regardless of the name used, my first response above clearly states 'if in THB' and you can read that in the web link provided.
