Dear readers,

We plan to visit the floating market(s) on Monday 18 August. We would have liked to visit the Tha Kha floating market because it would be more authentic than Damnoen Saduak. However, I read that it only takes place for a limited number of days per month, depending on the (lunar?) calendar.

Does anyone have an idea if this will continue on Monday 18 August? Or how that calendar works? Or where you can consult it?

Yours faithfully,

Christine

Cristine, if you type the name on the internet you will find the market. There are even tours to it but they work according to the lunar calendar and on Saturday and Sunday start 7 am to 5 pm incl. Lunch. Perhaps you can get further with this information by perhaps sending an email to the relevant travel agency.
In my opinion not on Mondays only on weekends. We think it would be more fun to explore this even further than the other floating market. Less tourism.

    Hi Christine,

The market is only open on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6 am.
I have personally been there and would not recommend it to anyone. (I live 20 km away from THA KHA)
It is a small market where, however, there is nothing to do, unlike Damnoen Saduak.

    Have fun

    Paul

      Hi Paul,

Your response seems clear to me!
Is really a help: it wouldn't be the first time that we don't want to
do what all the other tourists do, but in hindsight have to realize that too
there is a reason why all those others visit that more touristy …
      Big thanks!

      Christina.
