Reader question: How is Hua Hin beach now?

Dear readers,

My question is, Is there any news about Hua Hin? In the coming months, many will again visit the beaches of this beautiful place in Thailand. I myself am very curious about the changes such as:

a. What do the beaches look like now. Has anything changed. Can we still rent nice sun loungers or beds in various places and have a nice meal with a drink on the beach (photos or video please)?

b. What about the jellyfish infestation in Hua Hin? Is it safe to swim in the sea again, or is it better to wet our swimming trunks in the pool?

Let us know quickly before we leave,

Regards,

Ruud

Dear Ruud. I just came back on Monday from 2 weeks of refueling in Hua Hin. The first days I saw some jellyfish. After the recipe from 1 of the editors of Thailandblog, they were all gone when I left. I haven't eaten them but many have tried this recipe I think. Many swam in the sea again.

I have often wondered what has actually changed on the beach in Hua Hin. I wouldn't really know. Maybe less horses? I have been lying on a plastic bed in the sun and under a parasol. I had drinks for fluid balance and I also ate on the beach near the Hilton. I didn't go swimming so I can just lie there baking. Otherwise I prefer to go a bit further down the road as most people comment on this blog when it comes to the stone story.

I mean many bathers just swam in the sea again.

Kao Takiab also as it was. And the beach beyond the Mountain ???

Sorry, as I wrote before I haven't been there. If I had known that there were so many questions about this, I would have done a beach inspection. But now I ended up near the Hilton and the situation there was little different for me than last time. But there were/are quite a few Dutch people in Hua Hin so I think there is someone who can make a full beach report.

When I was there 2 months ago the sun loungers were gone which you could always rent if you walked 200 meters to the right from the stones

    are they back?

Good advice, don't sunbathe on the towel, the sand flies are certainly present, 2 months later I can still feel them. It's best to rent a sun lounger then it will be a bit less, but you can't get rid of these rotten creatures completely, at least I not yet 🙁

the only thing that helps against these "bad bugs" is coconut oil ... is a dirt on your skin but it works. These critters are also abundant here at Chumphon.

According to acquaintances of mine who have an apartment in Kao Takiap and who have been staying there for half a year, there are still very few sunbeds and this is going to be a real problem when the high season arrives, because perhaps the thousands who come there every year should indeed sit on a towel and take a cool box with you, because cooking is no longer allowed on the beach…
This will therefore be a huge problem for the older tourists who stay there every year for 3 months and love the beach…
I think that quarrels will break out and that it will be a huge effort from the old people to be able to get a bed early in the morning…
So I'm curious how it will really go and whether after this experience with too few beach beds Thailand will get even fewer tourists next year..

The beaches are clean, the army has demanded great cleaning and rightly so. There were too many eateries that were not always clean, with rats doing the rounds at night. To lie on the beach, there were mafia chairs. All of this is history thanks to the Army's cleanup.
If you still want to lie on the beach, just buy a foldable beach chair, which is not expensive here.
After your leave, sell it or simply give it to some tourist, he/she will be grateful. We wish you a nice holiday in advance.

We have been staying in Hua Hin for 18 months in winter for 3 years, the first 10 years in the city and the last few years in Koh Takiab, we have experienced the tranquility in Hua Hin on the beach and also in Takiab, we belong to the the old people mentioned above to which Mr. Mali is referring, which he also falls well under, knowing him. If we had known in advance how things were on the beach, we would certainly have chosen a different destination, there are many more countries with beautiful beaches where there are good beds on the beach, really friendly people and toilets on the beach, that's the least there should be. We and many others with us now say: we have a ticket and try again and then next year something new because we are indeed too old and too used to it at home to sit with your ass in the sand and for a fight and running with a towel we are too old.

Totally agree with Ineke. We also belong to the old people, who have been enjoying the beach of Khao-Takiab for years. We are also not happy about the negative messages we read.
And as far as the old people Mr. Mali is talking about, I would rather call active seniors, they certainly don't lie on a bath towel in the sand as he describes. We may walk more often to khao-tao (14 km) there and back. I have never encountered Mr Mali on the way there!!!

There are indeed far fewer beds, but the good eateries are. The beach is only closed on Wednesdays. However, it is open for walking and swimming. This was the case on November 6. how it will be in the high season. you could ask someone that. We also tried but the Thai people could not tell us anything.
