Divorce with my Thai wife in the Netherlands?
Dear readers,
My, now, wife and I are getting divorced. We live in the Netherlands and have children. We got married in Thailand, recognized in the Netherlands and also in the municipality. According to the legal counter, divorce can be done through a lawyer in the Netherlands.
Is this correct? And is there a Thai-speaking divorce lawyer or agency, preferably Rotterdam/Dordrecht, who can help my future ex with this because of the language barrier?
Regards,

Divorced for over 6 years myself. After ten years of marriage, my wife had a canal belt lawyer through her new boyfriend. I've done without it. We figured it out pretty quickly. Our daughter lived with me for six years until she went to high school and went to visit her mother and her new partner on weekends. Since August last year it has been the other way around, our daughter lives with her mother and comes to her father on weekends. She did not suffer from it and became independent more quickly because I worked from Amsterdam in The Hague and left the house at six o'clock and was back at 3 o'clock with shorter working hours. The nearby school gives lessons for up to 2 hours every day and with activities it became more than an hour later twice a week. We always have foreign students as tenants. During the first few months, a student took her to school and picked her up. From the age of seven she did everything herself. My wife had obtained MBO 7 in 4 years, so she could read the documents without translation. Preparing well with regard to the interests of the children and then each other's wishes saves a lot of time and money. I don't think you necessarily need a Thai-speaking lawyer, but someone who has a very good command of both Thai and Dutch and who supports your wife is certainly recommended. My ex-wife has been working since before the divorce and that also made things easier. In addition, she is more than thirty years younger. No pension transfer agreed.
If you are married, you cannot (yet) divorce without a lawyer or judge. It is possible to draw up a covenant or parenting plan without a lawyer. Only a lawyer can apply for a divorce in court. And only a judge can issue the divorce decree.
First think about the interests of the children, then what is important for their mother in that context and then be aware that a father (in my opinion) only has a duty of care and no rights. That makes it so much more balanced.
George
I was divorced in Thailand in amphur without a lawyer for 200 Bht in expenses.
You will then both receive a divorce document equal to the marriage document. But not white but gloomy gray. And with a different text and date. Arranged within the hour.
You can then have this recognized in the Netherlands, just as you had it done with the marriage document.
Seems pretty simple to me. Greetings.
Annoying for you, I know a sworn translator who has experience with this Monta Verhoof Vilairat she can help you.
