Dear readers,

We are going to Thailand with our children in 2 weeks, I have booked a hotel in Ban Kaeng Raboet and in Khao Lak. Now my question is how best to get here? I can not get out.

Yours faithfully,

Marion

For Khao Lak it is best to fly to Phuket and from there with a taxi to Khao Lak, this should be possible for less than 1000 baht. It is about 100km from the airport. You can also take the bus from Bangkok, but then you have to count on a full day. The bus that goes to Phuket via Ranong passes in Khao Lak, you can ask the attendant to let the bus stop there. Bus is about 800 baht per person.
I don't know Ban Kaeng Raboet and on google maps I only find a school and a health center with that name, both in Kanchanaburi. Kanchanaburi can be reached from Bangkok by train, bus or minibus, but probably not easy for tourists who do not speak Thai. I estimate that a Taxi from the airport will cost around 1500 – 2500 baht. Kanchnaburi is about 180km from the airport but the school and health center with the name you gave is about 60km further.
    Good luck

    marion,
We were in Khao Lak and it is located about 50 km north of Phuket Airport on the mainland. Our advice is to take a plane to Phuket Airport and then a taxi to Khao Lak. Beautiful beaches, quiet (not comparable to Phuket) and fantastic quality pineapple (sold in bags with skewers). If you rent a scooter, don't forget to put on your helmet because the police check regularly (we know from our own experience).

    Have fun,

I agree with Aad about the helmet, only he forgets to mention that you need an international or Thai motorcycle license for a scooter or moped because of the insurance.
Without insurance you pay everything in the event of an accident even if it is not your fault, by everything I mean damage and hospital costs and they are happy to be in the hospital here at the expense of a foreigner

    Have a nice holiday,

Can't imagine that you just booked 2 hotels in Thailand, which are also about 1000 km apart, without wondering how to get there in advance! Ban Kaeng Raboet is located above Kanchanaburi, towards Hell Fire Pass. Khao Lak north of Phuket and is very extensive. Since you don't say anything about your travel plan and the age of your 2 children, an answer to your question cannot really be given. As a suggestion, I would like to suggest that you ask your booked hotels whether they can arrange transport. Have a nice holiday!
