Home » Reader question » Reader question: Taking a passport photo for a new Dutch passport
Dear readers,
I have to go to the Dutch embassy in Bangkok next Wednesday to renew my passport. The only thing I am missing are the correct passport photos. I have difficulty walking, so I arranged a hotel with a view of the embassy. 8 years ago you could have the right passport photos taken in front of the Dutch embassy, but I saw on Google earth that a lot has changed!
Can someone tell me from recent experience if passport photos are still being taken opposite the embassy on Soi Ton Son, or else nearby?
A prompt reply is appreciated!
Regards,
Jasper
Well Jasper, passport photos can still be taken across the street, a little bit more to the right if you stand with your back to the embassy, greeting william.
Is there still.
You can also park cheaply.
On the other side just before the entrance of the embassy is a small booth where you can have your passport photos taken and possibly buy a stamped envelope for return.
Hi Jasper,
My experience regarding passport renewal across the street from the embassy is a shop for making the latest passport photo?.
Everything is arranged there if you have all the documents and paid, the new passport will be sent to you within about 14 days so no problem at least that's how it was last year I don't know if it has changed
Otherwise, call and everything will be explained to you properly
Success.
Gr William
Jasper, we went to the embassy for passports in August. You can still have passport photos taken in front of the embassy. However, the opening hours are variable. I suspect, because you can only make an appointment for passport in the morning, that the shop is open then. Elly
Hi Jasper, I was there 2 months ago, you can also buy a stamped return envelope so that your passport is sent home. Good luck, Ruud
Just renewed my passport. If you turn right from NLambassade, after about 80 meters there is an office on the left that arranges documents AND takes passport photos.
Success.
Hi Jasper,
On the other side there is still the possibility to take passport photos. It is about 5 meters from the old place and is now a real shop. They are made with a phone call, and they don't look good, but they come from the other side (dependence, girlfriend, from the embassy) so always good!
Hi Jasper, I was there 2 months ago, the shop is still there, I also bought a stamped envelope so that your passport is sent to you. Good luck Ruud
addition: here you can also buy an envelope with stamps to send your passport to your home, you don't have to come back.
Yes the shop is still there
What is the name of the hotel overlooking the embassy that you have arranged Jasper. I have an appointment there on the 18th this month and also want to stay as close as possible.
Urbana Langsuan Bangkok, 55 Langsuan Road, Lumpini. Perhaps not the cheapest (50 euros per night), but looks great on paper, and most importantly: walking distance!
Jasper, I have the impression that you are on the wrong side of the embassy in a hotel, but I hope for your sake I am wrong.
The entrance used to be at the front of the embassy (wireless road). Now that is in soi tonson at the back of the embassy and that's a nice walk. And yes you can still have passport photos taken there.
I only know the entrance via soi Ton Son, as I also mentioned in my question - where passport photos used to be, and apparently again/still can be taken. I didn't know the embassy also had another entrance?
I have a hotel on Langsuan Road, about a 150m walk to the entrance on Soi Ton Son I think.
Belgians have made it easier! They take your own photo for your passport, I went last week and after 5 days I was notified that my passport could be collected. Didn't have it sent to me because I had to be in Bangkok for a Vietnamese visa. Excellent and friendly service!
Yes, we are behind in this regard, even the Thai passport issuing office in Pattaya takes the photos themselves.
