Hello all
I've been trying to get the Thai language under my hat for some years now, but I'm only partially successful.
Google translate won't get you much further either. Does anyone know a good online translation site from Thai to Dutch or English and vice versa?
I'm willing to pay quite a bit for it as long as the translations are correct.

You don't always get along either, but works a bit better than google translate IMHO.
If it's critical then I use http://www.onehourtranslation.com
They send the text to a real Thai translator, but you have to pay per word for this.

Great site, you can have whole pieces of Thai text translated word for word via "build lookup" where multiple meanings are given.

We can help us very well with Google Translate. There you can arbitrarily link all languages with each other and have them translated. Both per word and whole sentences.
If you're handy with your iPad, you can even switch to the Thai keyboard there and you can actually work in reverse, for example Thai to Dutch.

I forgot to mention that Google Translate translates with real Thai script, plus with a phonetic script, plus can speak the translation when you tap the speaker.
My experience is that the translation sometimes comes out a bit crooked. You have to keep your wits about you for a while. But in general it works very well.
That the translation sometimes comes out a bit crooked is an understatement. Krommer can hardly do it, and it is therefore impossible for a Thai to read!
Indeed! To get an idea of what something like this might look like, you only have to read the 'Dutch' operating instructions for certain devices, translated from Chinese with the help of such a translation program.
Even with translations between related languages ls Dutch and German you get strange texts, let alone when Thai is involved………

This immediately shows the impossibility of an exact translation of Thai (and vice versa)
The language structure of Thai is so different from our Western languages that an unambiguous translation is simply not possible due to the current translation sites (programs). Very often Bing or Google translation gives complete rubbish translations.
Just see the many meanings that many words have and where the meaning depends on the context of the sentence. That is why it appears necessary to better understand the structure of the Thai language, after which the page mentioned helps you very well in constructing the intention of a text / sentence. This page therefore never gives an exact translation, but only a possible option and also all other meanings. An almost brilliant site in my opinion, which I have never seen in any other language.
And it is often necessary to ask a Thai person to help you with some translations. Gradually your own ability to understand translation will grow. Good luck, it is indeed not easy.
