Home » Reader question » To Thailand with a stopover in Singapore, what about the PCR test?
Dear readers,
My wife and I leave for Thailand on 4-4-2022, subject to approval of the requested Thailand Pass. We fly with Singapore Airlines and make a stopover in Singapore. Do passport checks and PCR test checks also take place in Singapore? The latter in particular worries me.
For Thailand, the PCR test can be up to 72 hours old, but for Singapore only 48 hours. With an almost day trip to Singapore, this will be very tight. Are there people who also arrived in Thailand via Singapore? Please your response.
Regards,
Bert

Hi I would call Singapore airways but when I would go the pcr test should not be older than 48 because that is required by the airport (Singapore government) this will be checked before the flight.
But I would call Singapore Airways at Schiphol just to be sure.
Cheers,
Jan
It is crystal clear on this website that it is no longer necessary.

Do the test 1 day before , then you have exactly enough time .
When you arrive in Thailand you still have to take the pt-pcr test again
On March 20 I had a flight from Amsterdam (10:25) via Singapore to Bangkok. Because of the 48 hours I did the PCR test at Coronalab.eu and that went very well and quickly. The test was taken on March 18 at 10:40 AM and at 20:40 PM I received the results by email.
The test result, together with the vaccination certificate and the Thailand Pass, was already assessed while I was standing in line to check in. You will then be given a piece of paper which you will show at the counter together with your passport. This went very efficiently.
No further control in Singapore.
You mean February, instead of March, I assume. That test obligation was withdrawn on 22/2.
Thanks for the attention Cornelis. February indeed and not March.
If Singapore's requirement has expired on 22/2, then only the (Thai) requirement of 72 hours for the PCR test now applies to the person asking the question.
We also flew to Thailand with Singapore Airlines.
Test control only takes place at Schiphol and on arrival in Thailand. At Singapore passport control and hand luggage control.
Covid-19 test requirement – A pre-departure test is not required for transit travelers for all flights arriving in Singapore, including VTL flights.
https://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-guide/Covid-19/transiting-through-airport.html
So no test needed for transit ie you are not entering Singapore.
If there is no check in Singapore, I can therefore simply take the test within 72 hours before departure.
The Covid test previously required for transfer passengers at Changi Airport in Singapore has expired on February 22, 2022.
https://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-guide/Covid-19/transiting-through-airport.html
We went to Singapore on March 3, but no test was requested.
Passport control.
On 5 Dec 2021 no PCR but passport control
Hi Bert, no problem. The rules are the same. There is almost no check, and you only have to show that you have a Thailand pass. To be sure, save your pcr certificate in your phone. This way you can always show this if necessary. Printing it out and keeping it with your documents is even easier. Have a nice trip and vacation. robert
