Home » Reader question » To Thailand with Thai Airways and a proof of recovery?
Dear readers,
On March 17, a friend and I will fly to Thailand for at least a month from Brussels with Thai Airways. We have arranged everything (Thailand Pass and everything related to it), only I tested positive on March 1 with a PCR test from the GGD. I will receive my proof of recovery on March 12. I am also fully vaccinated and boosted, which I also filled in when applying for my TP.
It's just not clear to me now whether I have to apply for a new TP with that proof of recovery + my vaccinations? And whether I still have to do a PCR test before departure? Because it will probably be positive. Does anyone have experience with a similar situation? What do they ask at Thai Airways when boarding? And if you show proof of recovery upon arrival in Thailand, what do they say?
I like to hear it.
Regards,
Jelmer

Dear Jelmer,
Maybe this will help you, same question but from 2 months ago.
https://www.thailandblog.nl/lezersvraag/thai-airways-doet-moeilijk-over-positieve-pcr-test-ondanks-herstelbewijs/
Thank you Ton, this was indeed helpful. Unfortunately, Thai Airways cannot be reached by phone. Without a word from them, there is still no answer.
I recently had an email exchange about this with the Thai embassy in The Hague.
This was the answer:
'We could only answer on the part that if your test result is positive before your departure which you could use your recovery certificate together with a positive RT-PCR test to travel to Thailand. Still, please be reminded that if you are tested positive upon your arrival in Thailand or on the 5th day, you may be required to follow health protocol even if you have the recovery certificate.'
Thanks for the answer! Indeed, I think it comes down to being lucky enough to meet the right person at the right time. Any idea if this answer specifically pertained to Thai Airways or was it more general for entering Thailand by air?
Dear Jelmer,
Wouldn't worry about the Thailand Pass, you have it by now.
At Schiphol you also had to show this before you could check in at the counter, another Thailand pass and PCR certificate check halfway through the gate, and again when boarding, no pass = no flight!
Our experience was upon arrival in Bangkok that you only had to show it when leaving the plane, without further looking into whether QR is scanned. They were checking the Thailand pass with 3 people before the end of the trunk connected to the plane and the transition to the airport itself. It will probably be the case that the trunk is still NL or Belgian territory and the threshold of the trunk crosses over to Thai territory, so they can still send you back when you cannot show the Thailand pass, hence the 3 checks on this at Schiphol itself.
However, a PCR test before departure is mandatory, and this is also requested at Schiphol and Bangkok.
So it will be no different in Brussels, after all this is required by the Thai authorities when one wants to travel to Thailand.
Thank you for the answer, I also think that the Thailand Pass will not be the problem. The restoration proof is what confuses me. This will be valid for me from March 12, so before the flight. Hopefully that will be enough to “defuse” any positive PCR.
Well, hoping that everything goes without further problems, and wishing you a nice holiday. Enjoy it.
