Dear readers,

After I obtained my visa for Thailand as a farang, I entered all the requested documents needed to obtain the QR code of the Thailand Pass. After entering the data, I received a message that the entry was successful with the associated Access code. I immediately received the message via e-mail: “Thailand Pass system has approved your registration. You can access and download your Thailand Pass QR Code by double clicking the attached PDF”.

After downloading the Thailand Pass QR code, I started filling in the Morchana app. When trying to scan the Thailand Pass QR code, I get the message “Incorrect QR code”. When entering the data myself, I get the message “System error please try again”.

I used the exact same procedure with my (Thai) wife and the Thailand Pass QR code is immediately accepted by her.

My questions now are: did other readers get the same notifications? After providing the Thailand Pass QR code, will the applications from farangs be checked again and therefore there will be a delay in accepting the Thailand Pass QR code in the Morchana app? Or is there another reason why an “approved” and provided Thailand Pass QR code is not accepted by the Morchana app? I am surprised .

Regards,

Ed

    Dear Ed,

If you are still in the Netherlands and you want to scan the QR code of the Thailand PASS, this ID does not work, it only works when you have arrived in Thailand.

      Hello Henry,

Thanks for the answer. My (Thai) wife's Morchana app responded immediately and that app did accept her Thailand-Pass QR code. Hence my confusion.

And why is Ed's Thai wife's Thailand Pass QR code immediately accepted by her Morchana app?

I had already installed the Morchana app a year ago when I got my COE to travel to Thailand. With the mention very low risk. Now I have a Thailand pass QR and on Dec 12 I travel to Thailand again. Based on the submission above, I decided to try to implement the Thailand pass QR in the Morchana app. So I am still living in the Netherlands. It was no problem.
The color of my QR on the Morchana app changed from green to orange with the mention Medium Risk below it. So first very low risk and now medium risk. That surprises me.

This does not surprise me Jacobus, the Thai government also reads the Dutch newspapers and also hears the Dutch reporting. If we in the Netherlands keep shouting that the Netherlands will turn dark red, the Thai government will respond.

The QR code on my wife's Morchana app is also Amber. I expect the color to turn green again after the rapid test in Thailand.

I arrived on November 2 morchana installed and completed. Didn't work filled in manually and orange from the start (medium risk). Has never changed and is now at the airport for the return trip to the Netherlands and no one checking or asking anything.

At Bangkok Airport and Koh Samui airport, not even a Thai cat asks for that app. The only thing that mattered was the Thailand Pass.
