Do I have to submit a life certificate to the Belgian pension service monthly or annually?
Dear readers,
Can someone give me the correct information regarding life certificate. If I deregister in Belgium to live on my employee pension in Thailand with my Thai wife. I would have my pension paid directly into my Thai bank account. Do I have to submit a life certificate to the Belgian pension service monthly or annually?
One says this and the other says something else. I would like a clear answer now.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dirk (BE)
Annually as an employee with a stamp from the police or city hall or embassy for yourself and if your wife also has the nationality ok if not with the police or a notarial lawyer for your wife.
I leave my money in a Belgian account in Belgium. I send a life certificate to the FPS pension service once a year.
it can of course differ from which pension fund you are paid. in the past, one had to send a life certificate every month if one wanted it deposited into a Thai bank account. that would no longer be necessary with us, but because laws can change, I'm going to be on the safe side and keep my current account in Belgium.
Clear answer, once a year
Why don't you ask the pension service itself, then you are 100% sure. email address is :

It is best to contact your pension service. They determine the rules.
Here you only hear what someone thinks they know.
Really every month? How do you come up with that! I think once a year is enough...
Hi Dirk,
it is best that you contact the pensions service.
Make sure you have something on paper (official document or email) regarding their decision.
Normally it is at least once a year.
Be sure to check the official link below:

Hello, I am Belgian and live in Thailand. I have also been deregistered in Belgium. Since last year (previously you had to do it yourself twice a year), the pensions department has been sending a document of life certificate, I have this completed by the Belgian Embassy in Bangkok and email it back to the pension department, who will then reply by email that you are correct. is for 2 year. I do have a pension from the federal government.

If you just contact the relevant pension fund, they will really tell you what the situation is in your case, because not all pension funds have the same rules.
If everything is in order, have yourself deregistered, etc., then they will send you a document every year that you must have stamped at the Belgian embassy. You must then send it to your pension service in Belgium. You must take into account that you must have this document within the month, otherwise they will stop the next payment (you can also have this stamped by the local government)
Hi Dirk,
The life certificate only needs to be submitted once a year, it can even be scanned to the pension service
Greetings
As a civil servant 2x year, employee 1x year./
I have been deregistered in Belgium for years, my pension is paid into an account with a Belgian bank - expat account - and I have to submit proof of life every year. However, if your pension is paid into a Thai account, you will probably receive a proof monthly or every six months have to deliver
as the FPS will decide.
Dear readers.
Many thanks for the clear answers.
Kind regards, Dirk
You can download this document yourself from the website of the pension service. Do this several months before your birthday.
Send it to the embassy, together with a photo as proof that you are still alive. (eg newspaper or photo with teletext date) This can also be done by mail, but please sign first.
The embassy in Bangkok does not charge for this. Just send it back by email.
Print this and send it to the Pension Service by registered letter.
possibly also a copy by email.
The Belgian embassy refused to sign or date my life certificate; also the emigration, the tourist police, the Dutch consul, were not willing to help me out of the shit.
Finally I ended up at the Austrian consulate here in Phuket who stamped, signed and dated the document without any problem for a mere 300 baht and a friendly
“auf wiedersehen”!
