Dear readers,

I haven't had many flight offers to Thailand lately. Why is that? I don't just mean on Thailandblog but I don't see them anywhere else either.

Are there no more offers or am I not looking properly? By an offer I mean a ticket of around €600.

Regards,

Aldo

Usually these offers come when there are many seats available on flights.

      Home page Lufthansa

      Flight Asia Thailand Bangkok
Flight from Amsterdam to Bangkok from 522 €

  2. Frank says up

I don't think there have been any big offers for a long time.
for direct flight Schiphol / Bkk in high season I paid 629.
(But booked very early.) The longer you wait, the higher the price.

  3. Eric says up

Of course also depends on your travel period (dates). We have been flying for about 600 euros in December for years.

  4. Antonius says up

    Dear Aldo.

I've googled. On November 26 and January 17, 523 euros back with Turkish airline. I stopover in IST.

KLM can also go directly there and back 1 stop CHG Paris 614 euros.. And many others with prices in between.

    So take your chance.

    Regards Anthony

  5. Henk says up

I still see offers coming up.
It is indeed a bit less, but I've had my ticket for a while, so those advertisers then target my other searches.

Subscribe to a number of relevant airlines on their websites for the newsletter or similar Almost every week I receive offers from Qatar and Emirates for flights to BKK for less than 600 euros. 3 days ago at Qatar: Bangkok from 569 euros.
Of course, this always concerns a limited period, a limited number of seats, a stay not longer than one month, etc. etc.

And waiting 15 hours in Doha. With food and drink at the airport it got really expensive.

      • Wimpie says up

Oh we have to wait 8 hours at Doha on the way back, from 23.55:7.50 PM to 750:XNUMX AM, so in the middle of the night. But it was the only affordable thing when I went to book in February. (XNUMX,- pp) But I had not yet thought about a surprise with the prices of food at the airport. But that was also the case with Turkish Airlines. What are the prices of a snack and a drink in Doha? I can also make do with two croissants and a bottle of water if necessary.

      • winlouis says up

Dear Patrick, I have been flying with Qatar for years and have NEVER.! 15 you have to wait for my connection, not to Bangkok and not during my return flight. I almost always have a transfer time of +- 2h30, ideal for a quiet coffee before I have to board. You have to look carefully when you book your flight, there are many flights that you can book with different transfer times! My Return flight is now already booked again for departure on January 02 to the end of March 2020, for the price of 460,- Euro.!! The bottom line is that I start looking from April to see if there are any offers at Qatar, I booked this flight at the end of May.! That is 7 months before departure.!

        • Patrick says up

My flights H/T for 2 people were 940 and 860 € from Brussels. Take it or leave it. The second time only booked a hotel in Doha, to sleep and shower. The champagne bar in Doha airport was not cheap either. But what else could you do to pass the time? It was fun but pricey. But as said: the cheap tickets became expensive.

Just booked this week for October. Frankfurt-Kuwait-Bangkok with Kuwait Airways for 450 per person incl. everything.

    • Ger Korat says up

That's a bargain, especially if you live in Frankfurt, I think. But if you live further away is it also incl. Everything? Amsterdam is 440 km away and Brussels is 400 km from Frankfurt.

Try with IC bus. Goes directly from many Dutch cities

Let Skyscanner search em, which I always do, search for the entire month, both before departure and return. I also search at 3 airports, Amsterdam, Brussels and Düsseldorf. I never fly up and down above an amount of € 530,00.

  11. Kammie says up

I have good news for everyone, eurowings from Düsseldorf €170 one way without luggage(€50). Get there with flexibus for €20.

    • rori says up

      Eh better with IC bus.
By the way, midweek with a discount only 149,99 without luggage
      With luggage 65 Euro
23 kg extra 50 Euro more.

      • Kammie says up

150 is also nice indeed, ic bus only runs from Maastricht Eindhoven and Roermond unfortunately, and flexibus nationwide.

        • rori says up

          Dear Cammie
In addition to the IC bus, you also have Euroliner. Never traveled myself.

Tried to travel with Flixbus myself several times. I think about 8 times in total. Ever first time with the bus Eindhoven Groningen for 1 Euro and for 1 Euro back,

However, the last few times very disappointed by either WAY too late or no bus at all.

Last experience. Similar has happened to me alone and last time together with my wife. So 2 times Brussels Eindhoven. Will explain last time.

Times are about cause I try from memory (Spring 2018)
Arrival Brussels Zaventem around 22.00 pm.
By train to Brussels North train station.
Had searched for Zaventem but that was not yet in the package.
Around midnight I think by bus to Antwerp (via Zaventem) to pick up people there). These people 4 were not there so after 2 minutes of standstill drove on.

Arriving in Antwerp around 1.30 am, the bus turned out not to continue to Eindhoven (which was stated in the booking) but to continue to Amsterdam.
Next to us, another 3 people were dropped.
Had to wait for the bus from Calais to Dusseldorf via Eindhoven. Would arrive around mid 2am.
Do you receive the message bus will be later via the app? Waited and waited. luckily there is a pool bar there which is open 24 hours a day so sit there and wait until 6.00 am.
          Then no Flixbus seen.
Finally bought a ticket at the station with the IC bus to Eindhoven. Because train Antwerp – Eindhoven is not an option.
The bus driver of the IC bus knew the problem. Man then neatly dropped us off almost at our front door. (oh was almost on his route).
With us from Antwerp, at least 8 more people in the same situation.

Another time from Eindhoven to Dusseldorf. On the departure time a notification bus arrives 2 hours later. Fortunately, an IC bus was ready to drive to Dusseldorf. Bought 2 tickets via the app and continued with the IC bus.

Train Eindhoven – Dusseldorf is also not an option. Have to change trains in Venlo and you don't want to know how long that will take.
Furthermore, the train journey in time is twice as long as with the IC bus.

In both cases claimed via Flixbus due to NOT keeping their agreements. A meaningless email returned with the message. We missed you>
After 3 e-mails and several calls, the battle was given up. Phone costs are more than missing a 4 euros 5 or 10 times.

          Flixbus NEVER again.

If tourism declines by 40%, the airlines will not pay much attention to this either…

  15. eduard says up

don't forget, the more you look on a page to search, it becomes more and more expensive.. just saves 150 euros, can be done in an hour!

    • Henk says up

I recently read an article that contradicts this. The longer you linger on a page, the more the website thinks you're wavering and will propose a discount to get you over the bridge.

  16. Pieter says up

The fact that the 737 max is not allowed to fly also puts pressure on prices. Too few devices to meet demand.

first have skyscanner search and then compare directly with the company. We flew from Brussels to Bangkok in May with a stopover in Zurich (Swissair) for 444 / person and now in September we fly back for 460 / person (return and everything in between from 1.20h, so it's not that long either) so you don't really need the offers, regularly look for it yourself

    • rori says up

Momondo gives you the choice of the dates with the lowest rates and corresponding dates.

Okk D travel site is great. Booked through them several times.

Directly with various companies after checking can also sometimes be cheaper

  18. Johan says up

A few weeks ago via skyscanner on an early morning I was able to book 1 direct tickets via Gate2 with EVA for less than €660 23/1/2020 – 29/2/2020. After filling in everything I wanted to complete and pay and then something went wrong in the system. Immediately filled in everything again and immediately the tickets were more than € 700 per person. Now I still look almost daily, but I don't see the first price anywhere anymore...

    • john says up

the “collection websites” such as skyscanner, momondo etc are often not completely correct. That is why you first see an offer, but if you click through, there is a malfunction or you get a message that the offer is no longer available. Just search again. Have quite a bit of experience. Book de nl or germany to bangkok vv several times a year for many years now.

We also had, and extra costs for reserving places next to each other, but in the end still reasonably cheap departure also January 23, 670

Via Momondo or Skyscanner you can find tickets from Brussels for 420-460 Euro.
    Off season.
Even direct with Thai Airways about 550 Euro

    • john says up

brussels is not immediately attractive to many. parking costs, long travel time to Brussels make it no real alternative

    • Henk says up

I do not share this experience, I also often search via skyscanner.
When you click on the flight of your choice, in addition to the provider with the stated price, a number of providers with (usually) higher prices are often displayed.

Momondo provides an overview with data and the associated prices in a bar table

Also check the website of EVA air, Qatar and Emirates and Ethiad also often have offers. I bought a ticket to Bangkok in May 2019 with transfer in Xiamen 4 days before departure from Amsterdam for €448,- inclusive.

Together with the kids (2) we opted for Finnair this year…………700 euros pp
    Never flown so fantastically relaxed…unbelievable.

  22. Stefan says up

In the last 5 years I have never found anything cheaper than at Skyscanner. If you go for low prices, there are plenty of tips available. Flexibility in travel dates is the most important. A few weeks ago I searched intensively for a flight. From Brussels, flights could be found from €423 (Turkish/Emirates/Etihad) for the second half of January. With Thai Airways direct from €485. In the end I just didn't book Brussels-Bangkok-Hat Yai for €528 with Thai Airways.

  23. john says up

But watch out. Lately often checked baggage and seat selection are not included in the price offered!! Some websites state whether or not this is included. Some you only notice at the end. You will also come across offers where it is stated that you have to pay separately for the luggage BUT it is not stated that you can only choose a seat shortly before departure. And, then that preferred seat is rather expensive.
So don't think too quickly that you have a cheap flight!!

    • John says up

      Hello namesake,

This is right. Saw a fantastic offer from KLM. However, after some clicking, this turned out to be without luggage. With luggage, about 50 euros one way was added. Then a picture of the plane appeared. Do you want a window or center or aisle seat? There is an additional 15 euros one way. So pay attention because cheap can become expensive.

  24. rori says up

Depending on amount of luggage and travel dates.
Try out of high season direct from Dusseldorf on Tuesday or Wednesday with Eurowings.
    Or with finnair transfer Helsinki
Or Ukraine International with transfer via Kieb

Booked in May for December… with Air China via Beijing. Must say is the first time with this company, so wait and see if it is something. But the price is unbeatable…. 412 euros. Stop in Beijing around 2,5 hours both times. Total trip duration with stop 18 hours. Departure from Dusseldorf at 12:30. Arrival Bkk also 12:30.

      With Austria 14 hours

Also important when you want to travel and from where.

On Saturday at Joker (stand at I Love Thailand in Bredene) we learned that promo tickets from Thai Airways from Brussels to Bangkok and back are available.

    Bangkok from 549 euros
    Chiang Mai from 579 euros
and many others (prices for stays of less than 1 month)

To be booked before 1 September and to leave before 15 December.

I planned to leave around December 15, so they advised me to leave on Tuesday December 10 or Thursday December 12. But I had to book quickly. There are separate offers up to 1 month or up to 3 months.

Went to Joker's office in Brussels this afternoon.

However, the promo tickets for departure on December 10 and 12 were already sold out.
    Price outward December 10 or December 12, 2019 – return January 28, 2020: 860 euros per person!!
But there were still promo tickets available for departure on Thursday 5 December.
Price outward December 5, 2019 – return Friday January 24, 2020: 573 euros per person!!

Immediately booked for 2 people (together with my Thai wife).
2 tickets + cancellation insurance (6.3% of ticket price) + handling costs = 1242.60 euros!

    So almost 600 euros saved!!!

But you have to book very quickly!

I also noticed that there were no offers on this forum for quite some time. But I don't miss them, because the times I looked more closely at those offers, they turned out to be uninteresting to me and I rarely managed to find the flights with the mentioned starting prices.
In my experience, booking through Skyscanner and Momondo is cheaper than booking with an airline. Momondo has more filtering options these days.
I always use their websites and apps to find the cheapest economy class tickets from AMS with a maximum of one transfer of a maximum of 3 hours and preferably 30 kg of checked baggage. AMS is fairly close to me and other airports are quite far away for me. Moreover, I have great difficulty sleeping in a sitting position, so an AMS-BKK journey should not take much longer than 16 hours.
In mid-May via Skyscanner for €572 a return AMS-BKK economy class with EVA for the beginning of October to the end of April.
Last week via Momondo for €535 a return BKK-AMS economy class with Etihad for early September to early October.
Seat selection used to be free, but nowadays you have to pay (considerably) extra for this. The same goes for alternative meals. Always check how much checked baggage is included.
I noticed that travelgenio, travel2be, SchipholTickets are often at the top with their prices. But…. those prices are exclusive of +/- €11,50 agency fees and between €5,50 and €27,50 payment fees. You only find out at the checkout, so those 3 are over for me.

@eduard: If you use a browser to search, I think it would be wise to delete the cookies afterwards. And set the browser settings to delete the cookies when you close the browser.

@john: I've been using Skyscanner and Momondo for about 6 years now, but I've never noticed a malfunction or something when clicking through.
