Reader question: Living in Hua hin
Dear readers,
Hello, my husband and I and our dog are coming to live in Hua Hin from the 18th September. We were there for a few days last week to rent a house. We succeeded through the broker of Nationwide. Does anyone have experience with this office in Hua Hin?
I ask this because we received a message yesterday (we are now in Cambodia) that the deal is canceled because the owner suddenly wants to live there himself. However, we had a signed rental agreement and we paid a deposit of 2 months rent. The broker has now suggested an alternative that we like, but of course we have not seen it in real life, only photos and vVideo. Moreover, we are afraid that this could happen again. She says it is her home and assures us that everything will be fine.
What do you think? Anyone good advice?
Greetings,
Caroline and Tony
If you come to live in Thailand you better get used to this kind of thing.
Definitely don't know the company, but they want to fix it and usually you're even better off.
Agreements hardly exist in Thailand and have little value because they are changed again.
I would be happy with a (provisional) alternative, if you don't like it you can always ask for another alternative. Good luck
Did you book for holiday or long term?
Dear Carine & Tony
I always think it is better to stay in a hotel or B&B for a while so that you can look forward to the perfect place.
I would like to help you with this because there are quite reliable offices.
Greetings and welcome to HH
Dear Marlene,
I'm actually in the same situation. Leave the Netherlands at the end of September and want to go to Hua Hin.
The plan is to stay in a hotel or airbnb for the first 3 weeks and to start looking for a house during that time. I have visited a number of websites, but can't figure out which ones are reliable. Can you recommend me some offices. Can be done through my email [email protected]
Thanks in advance,
Peter
Hello Caroline and Tony.
Give it a try at huahinhome4rent you will receive excellent help there
Dutchman his name is tjerk Hoekstra.
Hi Caroline and Tony,
Yes, I know Vernon and his secretary. There are a lot of those little companies trying to make a penny in HH. They also do the rental, but it does not yield enough to invest a lot of time. Mr. Slaytor was a construction worker and took over Nationwide in HH early this year. He'll be happy with a customer. The reason for cancellation may well be another, but they at least indicate that they will come up with an alternative. I'd just jump into it at this stage and see what comes of it. Once you are on site, you will see how much is not available. Renting from a private individual is just as attractive. All price ranges from 8000 to 80.000 p m., or more. Everything is value for money, but for 20.000 b / pm you will be fine together with the dog. We are in Nl now, but I still paid the rent until August in HH. Near Big C supermarket. Also if you need help in any other way, just let us know. We have (almost) enough Thai friends there.
Don't be afraid, it will be fine. Good luck!

Ask for a refund and find someone else. You are already a victim and will remain so if you work with the same figures. A real estate agency that suddenly has something 'of itself' as an alternative, that is nonsense.
Strange story. But can happen, especially in Thailand.
I would at least ask for the 2 months deposit back of course. Then say that the trust has been broken, and you want to try for 1 month in “their” house WITHOUT a deposit.
Then decide in 1 month (with still xxx months of certainty)
I have looked at the website extensively, but little offer. In addition, they are in an expensive location (I did not know them either, but through the card I sometimes saw the company out of the corner of my eye).
Too bad you can't respond after a few days, but I'm curious how it ends. Suc6 iig
Just go to HH, spend the first few weeks in a hotel, take a look around, talk a lot with Dutch people who already live there and use your common sense. So no hasty decisions.
Good luck,
Jan.
Experiences of my family Are indeed what I read above …… Really not very reliable and certainly not when it comes to Money !!
Rented a house in a compound and an insanely high electricity bill! That just happens and you can't do anything with it Then….. Just pay….
Good luck!
Rented a house in Hua Hin 4 weeks ago through Peter Rhodes for 2017 and possibly longer, good service and good contact. Contract signed under Thai law. Furthermore, he helped excellently. Check out his FB “Hua Hin property Hunters”. Good luck with searching and booking.
