Dear readers,

Can someone inform me what my Thai wife should do (in Thailand) when I die with regard to my Dutch state pension (SVB Roermond)?

Regards,

Ton

    Dear Tony!
You are very limited in your data. Do you also live in Thailand with your wife or do you live separately? Is your wife entitled to her own state pension because of her work history in NL? Or do you ask that question purely about what your wife should do with your state pension benefit if you die. in the latter case, the notification of death to the NL embassy, stating that the state pension must be stopped, seems to me to be sufficient for the time being. If more needs to be done, the embassy will point this out.
    Regards, Haki

Report your death. The SVB will want proof and that is Thailand's death certificate that is drawn up in two languages. Make a copy and keep it handy.

If your partner cannot access the site in your name, you can do so by letter; maybe someone can help her with that. Of course the embassy needs to know that too, but first and foremost your family.

Erik, I wonder if that report to the Embassy is not processed in the Municipal Personal Records Database. If that were the case, wouldn't an agency such as the SVB automatically receive the information that the person in question has died?

The embassy can look into the basic administration but cannot make any changes. At least that's what they told me in 2014.

Download a form and send it (registered = registered mail) to the SVB office, for the address you can click on the link :

I think it is advisable that the AOW is placed in a joint account so that repayments or withdrawals can always be made by the partner of the AOW that is still being paid after the death. We also recommend such a joint account if something happens to you and you are no longer able to perform actions due to an illness or accident or other mental condition, for example.

A telephone call or e-mail to the SVB is sufficient. She can also have this done by someone in the Netherlands. Sounds almost too simple but works. Also money for the ABP.

Ton, what you should bear in mind is that your Thai wife is not entitled to AOW if she has not lived with you in the Netherlands and has built up a right to AOW.

I have a voluntary ANW insurance, which means that my wife and son are insured under the General Surviving Dependents Act

      Evert / Ton
I think she is entitled to a survivor's pension, which was abolished after 2015 I thought, but still money for NLers born before 1950?, married to a Thai woman legally registered in the Netherlands and Thailand before that time.

      • Erik says up

Jan, I think you mean the partner allowance, which was abolished on 1-1-2015 for relationships in which the oldest partner was born in 1950 or later. But even if Ton would still have the partner allowance, the state pension and partner allowance would stop at his death. This is because the partner supplement is not a partner's entitlement to benefits, but a supplement for the state pension beneficiary.

If Ton's wife has ever lived in NL, she is entitled to state pension per month in which she reaches state pension age. A widow's benefit is not included in the AOW.

          Erik
thought more of the Anw, the survivor's benefit for the widow, not the allowance.
I think this one also changed in 2015.
maybe you know more about it.
