Home » Reader question » Reader question: What does it cost in Euros if you want to live in Pattaya?
Dear readers,
I'm not retired yet, but I'm almost! What do you need per month as a single man in Euros if you want to rent an apartment in Pattaya and live there? One of about 60 m2.
What is normal amount for living expenses (excluding health insurance). I'm not driving a car either.
Thanks for the responses!
Marcel
Dear Marcel,
If you are thrifty:
Rent approx. 500 Euro per month.
The rest approx. 850 Euro per month.
Do you drink beer in the bar:
+ approx. 300 Euros
Are you also going to travel internally:
+ approx. 300 Euros
Do you often have to go to hospital:
+ approx. 300 Euros
Do you have a girlfriend? Multiply the total x 1,75
John,
the prices of rent and the rest can also be considerably lower, especially with regard to food, if you eat thai every day, you can live well with the rent and the rest of the fixed costs with € 1000, - going out can be expensive.
Oh, first to some places to see where and what you can best fill. Or rent and move every 1 to 2 years. Pattaya, Jomtien, Rayong, Laem Chbang, Chonburi, Hua-Hin, Cha-am, Nakhon si thammarat, Phuket, Krabi.
You can already rent nice condos with 3 rooms here for 10.000 bath at the moment. People are happy when someone comes. Top location top cost. Just go to a hotel and have a look around. You pay more in Pattaya north than in Pattaya south. Beach road 1 is more expensive than Beach road 2. While the beach is only 200 meters further away.
Oh I NEVER get to pattaya and jomtien in the (sewage) sea.
Many apartment (condo) complexes have their own swimming pool (salt and/or fresh water) and facilities.
You can rent a 400 meters beyond immigration in Jomtien on second beach road apartments for a 8500 (studio) If you are alone big enough. Or with 1 in two bedrooms for 9500 to 11.00 or as much more expensive as you want.
What are you planning to do and do your business determines your costs. A different girlfriend every day means a minimum of 100 euros per day in expenses.
Count on 500 baht per day for food in a food court. But 1000 bath is also possible. Just put the shit to the trade
Hello Marcel,
Your questions are difficult to answer in writing and rental prices are also difficult to predict due to Corona. You will receive very different amounts and there can also be a big difference in Euro or Baht. I myself have been coming to Pattaya for about 15 years now and I can tell you a thing or two about all kinds of things. You can always contact me by email [email protected]. I hope we can head in that direction again soon.
With regards
It is

60m condo renting price from 20.000 baht
For 10.000 baht you already have a 40m condo, also with a separate bedroom…isn't that big enough?
Eating, drinking, going out, washing, clothing, medication,…
Take 10.000 to 15.000 baht per week,…
Total 60.000 to 75.000 baht to live well and not like a cheap charlie…
Jomtien bathbus a 10 bath to central. 20 bath to Big C on the main road. Otherwise walking to the daily market here when we are in Jomtien. Always buy from the same stalls there. Get to know you and get a discount right away.
In the Province I spend 4000 baht for food and drink. This with 3 people.
Not entirely fair because we have fruit and vegetables ourselves. Often a kind of barter with family and acquaintances.
Most of the money in the province is spent on blend295 and chang, cola and orange juice.
Dear Marcel,
no one can give an appropriate answer to such a question. One thing is certain: as a permanent resident and as a temporary resident (tourist) the cost of living is completely different. Everything depends on what standard of living you want to maintain. Do you want to live like a poor devil or do you want to live like a wealthy, enjoying person?
You will read here of all amounts, but usually none that correspond to your own wishes or lifestyle. Already when choosing the place and the type of condo you want to rent, there is a huge price difference. Your insurance: depending on your age and the cover amounts: a big difference. Regarding the food: depending on what you want: a bowl of noodle soup of 1.5Eu as a 'complete delicious meal' or on time and a good beaf was on your plate..... Drink consumption: a beer from the 7/11 or a beer in a bar…..The record I have ever seen pass here was: 2.5Eu/d and that with 4 people!!!
I suppose you've been to Thailand, Pattaya. So you should know what it costs to live there as a temporary resident. As a permanent resident, with the same lifestyle as a tourist, it won't make much difference. As a permanent resident with a purposeful lifestyle, this will make a big difference.
Make a monthly budget of what you can / may / want to spend and keep track of it. Then you will find out for yourself whether you are doing well or badly and you can simply adjust.
Hello Marcel,
On a site like this you can find many general prices.
Other cities can also be entered or clicked to get a comparison.
Since everyone has their own lifestyle to adjust up or down or conclude that another part of Thailand is more your wish.
A blog like this is good for finding that correction.
Succes
