Home » Reader question » Reader question: When can foreigners in Thailand receive a Covid-19 vaccination?
Dear readers,
Is it already known when foreigners living in Thailand can receive a Covid-19 vaccination? And that will probably be AstraZenica?
Are there any private hospitals in Thailand that already offer a corona shot? And if so what does that cost? Can you also choose from which manufacturer? Personally, I prefer the Pfizer ones. I don't care if I have to pay a lot for it. I'm more than tired of waiting.
Regards,
Benny
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
Ahhh, the crystal ball question! Not much to say about it, Thailand has only vaccinated 40.000 of the 70 million Thais, so it may take some time. For comparison: 1.4 million people have now been injected in the Netherlands...
Keeping up with the times Cornelis. Yesterday (March 16) there were 1.915.572 vaccinations.
Even better, Josh! I saw a different number yesterday, but maybe it's because of the difference between the number of shots taken and the number of vaccinees? After all, some have already had a second injection.
But in any case, the difference in progress between NL and TH is clear.
@Jos,
A source reference would be nice since such numbers of doses were not even in Thailand according to the following source.
https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Coronavirus/COVID-vaccines/Thailand-finally-kicks-off-COVID-vaccinations-5-things-to-know
The response in question concerned the number of injections in NL.
Been to Changmai Ram Hospital on 01-03-2021, with Doctor Ratya.
She asked me if I want to be vaccinated for the covid 19 and which one.
Have said the Phizer and preferably as soon as possible.
She expects it in mid-June, but she doesn't know the price yet.
She has noted me, as soon as it is known she will contact me.

Pfizer is not authorized in Thailand. It remains to be seen whether and who will apply for admission. The product may not be used without permission. So far, only the Chinese Sinovac and the Astra Zenica vaccine have been authorized and administered. Thailand has an agreement with Asta Zenica to produce the vaccine on a large scale in Thailand.
believes to have read that a number of hospital groups are in the process of obtaining a license to obtain an import permit. If they have it, they can import it themselves. Then they just want to offer that to anyone who wants to pay for the vaccination.
That is not in accordance with what prayut said some time ago, by the way. He then said that only the Thai government should be allowed to import. But everyone knows how quickly statements in Thailand are outdated.
Any import yourself will therefore depend on approval/permission, as Willem also writes above. The question is also how the anticipated Thai vaccine manufacturer - after all in the hands of a very high-ranking person - views this.
Visited a private hospital in Chiang Rai yesterday for information regarding a Covid vaccination.
Answer: not yet available but will cost THB 4000 per shot (2 shots needed) with the remark of the hospital that the vaccination will be more expensive for Farang than for Thais.
Peter, out of curiosity as I am also staying in CR: which hospital?
Overbrook Hospital
Have already done this on reader submission.

I think it would make sense that you get it after the entire Thai population has been vaccinated
Where do you get this information from? Or is it something you think yourself? I think that foreigners living in Thailand can be vaccinated earlier than the Thai population because it does come with a price tag. In fact, I think if you are willing to pay 10000 baht somewhere for a vaccination that you can get it within 1 month in a private clinic. Don't be so naive man, in Thailand everything can be bought or bought off if you bring enough bath with you. Corruption in Thailand is still there. But maybe you hadn't noticed that yet? Do you think they will use the same policy in Thailand as in the Netherlands? Older, vulnerable groups first? Dream on. Especially in this difficult time, every bath is welcome in Thailand.
Dear Benny,
Last week I had to go to McCormick Hospital in Chiang Mai for my third and final Tetavax shot.
I told the doctor that I also wanted to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible and that I was willing to pay 10,000 baht for it.
He replied that it was still too early and that I might try again in about 4 months.
Goodbye,
