Reader question: Turn two condos into one
Dear readers,
I own two condos (each +/- 28m2) next to each other in a building in Jomtien. I would like to do renovations to turn those 2 into one large condo, with the necessary adjustments to have as much space as possible.
Does anyone have experience with this or does anyone know an architect who can advise on this?
Regards,
Johan (BE)
Johan
I live in Majestic myself
Condos are regularly converted from 2 to 1 or vice versa
from 1 to 2 spaces
It is possible and with a good contractor it will be ready in 2 weeks.
I can find out who can do it for you .
I don't know where you live in Jomtien!!
I will hear from you !!

John, I understand your question very well.
I have lived in different places in Thailand (including Banglamung for a while) and always adapted the space myself. I have been renting three adjacent condos in Chiang Mai since 2012. There is a good relationship of trust between me and the landlord, we have not even made a contract. I have received permission to make architectural adjustments to the condos. The landlord already had a previous experience where a ¨farang¨ had greatly improved two condos.
I replaced the ¨grates¨ of the indoor balconies with sliding windows and removed the entrances to the balconies and broke through a wall between two condos. Everything is connected (one passage through the breakthrough and one through the former balconies) and only one of the three entrances has to be used. I kept two bathrooms and turned the other into a kitchenette.
Exhaust ventilation and air conditioning in every room. Also a fixed cupboard in the middle condo (which serves as a living space) around all walls about one meter down from the ceiling. A beautiful storage space and yet the walls are clear.
In this way I have a bedroom with bathroom/toilet with plants and a fish basin on the former balcony; a living room with dining and sitting area (sofa bed for less intimate guests) plus an extra bathroom. A very light passage with 3 mtr wide sliding windows (tinted because it is on the south), In the passage under the windows is a hydroponic set to grow vegetables and under this set I grow 4 types of mushrooms (the watering of both systems is regulated by a timer/pump mechanism) The third former condo has been transformed into a workspace and in this part the bathroom has been replaced by a practical kitchenette. The smart placement of cabinets has created a space with a lot of privacy.
This way I have a fantastic spacious apartment for just under 4500 Bht per month.
How many m2 has your apartment now become in total.?
Almighty Tony,
That is less than EUR 130 per month for 3 apartments!
Dear Ton,
Do you believe it yourself?
THB 4500 (Euro 130) per month for 3 apartments.
Forgot a zero?
What a bargain Tony!
That price.
Where exactly is that in Chiang Mai?
Jan
I suppose the building has many examples of two small condos that have been converted to size. Just put a note on the notice board.
I have already had three condos renovated in Jomtien 1, to my complete satisfaction. Neatly finished and perfect price agreement. Contractor Sanong tel 081 621 2064 and lives in the area.
I am currently in Belgium. My email if necessary [email protected]
