Reader question: Out of quarantine from Bangkok to Pattaya
Dear readers,
Friends of ours will soon be released from the 14-day quarantine in Bangkok. Now the receptionist knew with certainty that they had to “sit” for another 14 days upon arrival in Pattaya.
I think the hotel, where they have served 14 days, provide papers from that quarantine and that they were negative with the last test. Surely this is enough to travel to Pattaya? They go directly from Bangkok to their own condo, so everything is arranged, right?
Good heavens, would we still see that all offices and authorities will apply the same rules? I can imagine that many people really can't see the wood for the trees anymore.
Regards,
Louise

Yes, I experienced it 15 days locked up and brought by the government from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (what a luxury) and no quarantine again and that played on April 22nd.
You know that you have a condo there, but the person you may have to admit (checkpoint) does not know that. You expect them to believe you on your (blue? ) eyes. Just be sensible and make sure you have something to prove you live there. Might be hard as you may keep the papers on that in your condo. Can you perhaps “cough” proof of payment or something from a telephone or something like that.
That seems nonsense to me, Chonburi is dark red, Bangkok is red, they do not have to be quarantined for another 14 days, officially one must report to the local authorities, but that is not used everywhere, I would report to the 'phu yai track'.
Indeed. The village chief of Pattaya, or wherever the condo may be, can give a definite answer.
Don't worry. When quarantine is over, she can be taken to her place of residence with transport arranged by the government. She can also be picked up, or have a taxi come to her home. She does not have to do another 14 days of home quarantine. My wife was in a hotel in Pattaya and she was picked up by her sister.
I haven't read anything about that.
Quarantine applies to Thais who travel from BKK and Chonburi to a number of other provinces (and then it is self-quarantine, if I understood correctly).
I read here
https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/travel-alert-bangkok-travelers-must-now-quarantine-in-these-26-provinces/ including the following:
“As of today, residents of Bangkok and other areas with a high number of COVID-19 cases, including Chonburi (the province in which Pattaya is located) and Nonthaburi, must quarantine two weeks if they travel to any of 26 provinces imposing new travel restrictions. ”
So quarantine for 'ordinary people' from Chonburi to other provinces, but not if you travel into Chonburi province.
But foreigners who have just undergone 15 days of quarantine are not 'ordinary people' anyway.
It therefore seems plausible to me that – even if quarantine were mandatory for 'ordinary people' – foreigners with a covid-free declaration from the hotel (which you will indeed receive) and with a destination address, you will be allowed through at a possible checkpoint; quarantine without any obligation.
But when in doubt: have them send an email to [email protected] (tourist organisation).
Avoid contact with officials. And, don't say you're going there. Rent a car at Hertz for a day and take shortcuts without stopping and going. With a genuine Thai driving style, do not reduce a possible checkpoint but wave back.
Let them swallow Bill Gates's corona lies for themselves.
Enjoy your stay!
