Reader question: Back to Thailand and have a Corona test carried out
Dear readers,
My girlfriend is going to Thailand on November 11 but has to have a Corona test done 72 hours before her departure. The GGD advises Corona test service in Badhoevedorp, costs 149,50 euros.
Does anybody have experience with this? Or Medi Mare? I read that on Thailand blog (60 euros).
Thank you in advance .
Regards,
Dick C.M
Hi Dick,
Perhaps you mean a fit-to-fly statement?
At the beginning of October I also put my girlfriend on a plane to Thailand.
Please contact Medimare.
You send an email with some information. They send a questionnaire. You send it back completed and you will receive a statement in the mail. Correctly dated and on the correct day for departure.
Costs €60.
Success!
That doesn't sound like a corona test.
Moreover, you have a problem if that email says NOT-fit-to-fly.
Unless, by definition, all Medimare emails state “fit-to-fly” and it is no more than a revenue model.
How can you declare someone healthy without testing someone?
Questionnaires do not have to be completed truthfully and anyone who insists on leaving will most likely cheat in the hopes of appearing healthy enough on the day of departure.
is that statement sufficient (and in English) or do you still have to have it legalized?
Medimare is good and reliable. I don't know the other.
€150 for a quick test seems a lot to me anyway. Prices vary between €55 and €100.
If it is a Covid test, it must be an RT-PCR test.
Medimare does this + FtF, for 175 euros together.
You are talking about a corona test, if it concerns a repatriation flight via the Thai embassy for a Thai national, then a corona test is not a requirement, but a fit to travel (or fit to fly) is required, the latter also corresponds to the costs from € 60.= at Medimare.
If I see the Facebook message from the Thai embassy (https://www.facebook.com/ThaiEmbassy.Hague/posts/3599750673410652) may be believed, the flight of Dick CM's girlfriend on November 11 is not a repatriation flight via the Thai embassy. It has nm. repatriation flights organized on 13 and 27 November.
She must therefore pay for the two weeks (A(L)SQ) quarantine herself. I am not sure whether she (Thai) must therefore also submit a COVID-19-free declaration in advance. Apparently she and Dick think that statement should be handed in.
If your girlfriend has Thai nationality , no COVID test is required but only a fit to fly certificate .
Costs at a Belgian doctor : just a consultation price .
In addition, the test in Badhoevedorp goes through a GP lab (that's in Baarn?) and it happened there that the result came in way too late. I found on the internet. Who knows, it's better now.
My girlfriend flew back with a KLM on October 9 and had to have a Covid test
before she was allowed to fly.
You can download and complete a Fit to Fly yourself and it is actually intended for the airline.
Wil, My wife has a ticket on October 30 with KLM and she says she does not have to take a Covid test, only a fit to fly and the embassy has put her on the flight list. Only the (farang) must have it. I'll see if that's the case on Friday.
In addition to what I already indicated above, there is a statement that IF NOT through the embassy you must have it, but if you read carefully you can see that on the site.
I made my wife have doubts with Wil's comment so that she asked. THE answer she got was NOT to listen to what some say, but to follow the Thai embassy site.
Assuming your girlfriend is Thai. This is absolutely not true.
My girlfriend flew back to thailand 16-10 and fit for fly is enough. I also received Medimare through the embassy. You have to pay 60 euros, it is also only about 4/5 days after they are back in Thailand, so not in advance.
I don't know how far you are from Antwerp, but a test here costs 47 euros and results a day later. everyone can go, including non-Belgians.
I did the PCR test at Travel Docter at the airport in Eindhoven. Also €149,50
Can also be done in Amsterdam. Don't have an address for that.
It has been said many times. Thai nationals do not need to have a carona test done. A fly to fit statement signed by a doctor. The easiest way to do this is through Medicare. Costs €60,00 All information is provided via email by the Thai embassy. If you do what they ask, it will all be easy to arrange.
In addition. If it is not a flight organized by the embassy, she must take a covid test and the hotel costs are for her own account.
