Reader question: Bad experience Lazada
Dear readers,
I bought a 5 tb hard drive from Lazada. He was defective. Delivered on 30-1-2021 and returned on 01-02-2021. On 02-02 I received a message from the seller that he would not accept my return. I paid 1904 Baht.
Communication with the shop is not working, it seems that this shop is no longer active. Consumer care also says that I have to solve it with the seller. According to my Thai wife, the seller has many bad reviews.
Have been a customer of Lazada for years, never had any real problems, but it seems the policy there has changed. Afraid that I will not get my money back, or does anyone know what to do?
Regards,
Henk

Hello Hank
Annoying situation for many bahts 🙂
Lazada is, as far as I understand it, the Thai Aliexpress and precisely with the latter I had a similar experience in the Netherlands.
However, I did not return my defective hard disk SSD, which crashed after 5 months of use, to the seller in China.
After sending several messages to the seller, who did not respond at all, I submitted a claim request to Aliexpress and successfully.
I don't know Lazada's web shop, but I assume they also have a customer service where you can explain the situation.
Another option could be if you have paid with Paypal or a credit card that you submit a request through buyer protection (there is often a time limit of, for example, 180 days after purchase), but then you may have to be able to send the defective hard disk to the relevant organization.
Success with it
Is it because of corona or not, but of 7 relatively small articles that I ordered in February '20, I only received 4 from Alibaba.
I no longer work with these online sellers.
With Lazada in such cases it may take a while and with some patience, you really get your money back.
A matter of perseverance.
Contact customer service via chat.
Henk, about the same experience with Lazada, asked for a Google Dongle for the TV
Thing was broken wouldn't log into anything or whatever you call it
The shop that sold it to me didn't give it home at first
Contacted Lazada and he more or less mediated
After much discussion and back and forth emails between the seller, Lazada and my person, Lazada has decided to reimburse the Dongle after six months of emails / discussions.
I didn't get my money back but some kind of credits in my wallet
Now comes the problem, as a falang I can't take or use anything from that wallet because I don't have a Thai ID
You must have a Thai ID and corresponding number to be able to cash in on that wallet.
So I was right where the shop holder / dongle is concerned, but still lost my money because I cannot provide a Thai ID.
So I don't order anything from Lazada anymore
Just go back to the store and if something is broken just go back to the shop where you can at least address the seller directly
Harm I don't agree with you on this. You can indeed use the credits that they deposit in your wallet with your new purchase, they use the amount and you still have to pay what you still owe
Their policy has recently changed on this point. You can now only refund your credit to your bank account. Takes a few days.
order compute parts from JIB
never had any issues with the warranty
Delivery throughout Thailand
Better than JIB is Advice.
I still don't understand why everyone orders online these days.
My motto over the years has been buy from the man who can also repair.
But yes, I'm old fashioned let them order online and support the Chinese economy and their regime.
My stepson also recently bought two security cameras online.
A day later there was already a defect, the delete button had broken off and was rattling somewhere at the bottom of the camera, it was not sent back and is now collecting dust somewhere again and once again, 900 baths earned through hard work went into the waste container.
Jan Beute.
Dear Henk,
I had a similar problem 2 months ago, but this was with Shopee.
This one has good customer service. I got my money back and was treated very kindly.
And received a short manual via email, so that everything could be handled as desired.
I've never had any problems with Lazada, by the way.
Before purchasing a product, it is wise to read the reviews of the relevant shop and how long this shop has been working under the umbrella of Lazada.
Previously you could send souls back to Lazada at Lazada. Nowadays, a complaint must first be submitted, which is almost always refused by the seller. I've even had it with wrongly sent products where the seller refused the complaint. Then you must state that you disagree. Photos of wrong products and screen printing l/ photos of error messages help you with that. If the seller does not respond back, Lazada will make an assessment herself and will be stronger with evidence. I have always been equated by Lazsda so far and have therefore received my money (minus the shipping costs) through the Wallet. After that, depending on your complaint, you can have your money refunded to your Thai bank account or not. So it takes a while but usually it works out with a well-founded complaint !!!
Hi, I just had a similar case. Many counterfeit items are offered through online stores, including hard disks. The customer ratings are manipulated so that it all seems very reliable. I went to the factory service center with this drive and they stated that it was a counterfeit. (refurbished.) I have proof of that. Seller still declares it 100% authentic. If a brand name is offered at a huge discount, be careful. Continuing to press the Customer Help desk is the only thing you can do. Visit the service center with photos and serial numbers or demand this defective drive back and take it to the service center. If the drive turns out to be a copy, which I expect, you can certainly get your money back with that proof. Success with it.
Refurbished is not counterfeit.
Refurbished is original but 2nd hand/used and brought back into good condition.
How did you determine that the hard drive is defective?
I assume you have opened the packaging and installed the hard drive in your system.
The problem is now, was the hard disk already defective before you did the installation, or did you do something wrong that caused the hard disk to fail.
And that can lead to a stalemate.
The supplier will probably claim to have delivered a properly working product.
You will claim that you did not make any mistake during installation and that a defective product was delivered.
It is best to look at the fine print when the warranty expires.
So just buy from the man who can also repair and help you install a hard drive if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Been doing it this way in Thailand for years and never had any problems and if there ever is a problem
Because that can of course also happen, just tie the PC to the back of the motorcycle with a few straps and go to the local computer shop and return after an hour with a solved problem.
Good luck to all with Lazada and that other multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos.
Jan Beute.
How on earth can you know if your hard drive is broken without taking it out of the packaging and installing it in your PC? if yes then you should stand at the fair…
That's the problem when you buy something online.
Lazada gives a warranty of 7 days, to be returned immediately, if the product is still in its original packaging.
That mention is given every time you place an order.
If the product is out of the original packaging, you fall back on the manufacturer's warranty.
If you accept those rules as a user, I don't know what a carnival has to do with it.
The procedure will then probably be to send the hard drive in to check what caused the failure. A production error that has been able to bypass the company's internal control system, or an incorrect action by the user.
Or is the disk defective, perhaps the configuration in the operating system has not been carried out or has been carried out incorrectly?
It will be very difficult to convince the manufacturer that it is a manufacturing defect.
But it is a choice that you make yourself.
Online is usually cheaper because you don't pay for employees who make the product ready for you to work.
I follow Janbeute in his reasoning, but not for everything.
For larger purchases such as a new TV, laptop or computer. I will have the new TV brought home and installed. And they don't leave until the installation has been completed to your satisfaction.
A new Laptop or PC, in the store they always do the first start-up and check of proper functioning as a service, in front of you.
I bought a new Laptop hard disk from Lazada 2 weeks ago, but from Jibb. Configure after installation under Windows 10 and works properly.
Many Dutch and Belgians have already had problems with purchases online at Lazada and similar sites.
NOT RECOMMENDED
I assume that this is an external hard drive, and certainly not an SSD for that amount.
I also assume a Windows PC, and in that case there is no installation, just connect via USB and it should work. What nobody is talking about is the price: an external 5TB hard drive for just over 50 euros, that can't be right. There are only a few hard drive manufacturers, and they are all well above this price….
