Dear readers,

I want to send football clothing to Thailand per package. For what amount can you do that without having to pay import duties?

How do you get a customs form? Or is this done by the sender? Who is the best person to do that with? The weight will be around 5 kilos.

And what will the costs be?

Regards,

Gerard

Gerard, the exemption for postal items is 1.500 baht. That includes freight and insurance, so you'll get it quickly. You can collect the customs form CN23 at a Post NL point. You can find what 5 kg costs on the Post NL site. I regularly send items with Post NL and then with track & trace.

Isn't football clothing much cheaper in Thailand? I think you better give money and have it bought in Thailand.

Just like Eric says: just bought a sweater and pants XL from Liverpool and ManU. Per set 130 Baht. Good quality. Of course if you want to send a set from Lommel or Zoetenaaie or Sluis it's something else, even Bruges or Ajax can't be found. Football boots, on the other hand, I would prefer from Europe in terms of quality and originality. Please note: import tax above €20 to be paid by the recipient.
Under 20 € they normally do not open the package. And then there is the problem with the sizes. In the EU I have with my 78 kilos M or L, here always minimum XL. And not being allowed to try on is also not buying, otherwise you are seen.

Gerard, there is a difference between postal items and traveler's luggage. For postal items, the exemption is considerably lower. Look up the site of Thai customs and find the rates. I found an exemption limit of 1.500 baht for postal items. Hans says it's only 20 euros, say 800 baht. Your 10 to 20 k baht seems strong to me.

You call it import tax. It is import duty and VAT and what the rate of import duty is can be found on the site of Thai customs. VAT is 7 percent.

Then one more thing. The original shirts of the Oranje 11? That is a collector's item and I think you better take it on the plane. Things that have collector's value sometimes spontaneously fall out of the mail truck...

You get CN23 at the post office

    Cost package 2 to 5 kg is € 46,30

I don't know import duties in Thailand, but I've never had to pay anything (pre-Corona items were sent almost monthly, in Corona time it all takes a very long time (4 to 5 weeks).

If "internet" is an option, you can also order a lot on Lazada, which is already available "locally" (so in TH) and then it is a matter of days and cheaper (I know that was not your question, but maybe alternatively useful to know)
