I have a flight ticket for May 16, 2020 with EVA Air. EVA has canceled this flight due to the corona virus. All very understandable and to be expected. I can now still fly to BKK on June 16, 2020 if the Thai government does not throw a spanner in the works again.

It is clear to me that I have to be quarantined upon arrival, only where? I would like to go into quarantine in my own home, I have no problem with that. But now I hear from acquaintances (without being able to name a source) that the Thai government has opted that people have to stay in a hotel for 14 days at their own expense, and that that hotel room can be shared with other (totally strange) people. ) persons from the same aircraft. So if you are very careful about Corona yourself, you can still get it from those strangers who also stay in 'your' room.

Is the above true? Can someone confirm that? Please cite the source.

If this is true, then I will not fly on June 16, 2020 without having Corona and then become infected in a hotel room in Thailand that I did not ask for and where I also have no possibility to exclude contamination.

In Thailand I have my own transport so I don't have to use public transport. And as such, do not run the risk of getting infected by others who are less or not at all careful.

Regards,

Harm

I'm facing the same dillema. I would be able to quaratere at home separately from my family. (Submitted the question to the Thai Embassy in NL but was not very helpful)

    Hi Harm,

Upon arrival, your temperature will be digitally checked by nursing staff for immigration officials.
Anything below 37.5 is no problem. Make sure you have the AOT (airport of Thailand) app on your phone. In this app you will find a form, a kind of health declaration, that you are required to complete.
    Also your whereabouts etc.
You must also complete this form if you have less than 37.5 gr. Please note it is an official form..

There are 2 options in general if you are in quarantine you have to indicate yourself at which address you are staying. This is the common option. The other option is state quarantine but I haven't heard from anyone here for so long.
Remember a strict obligation is the face mask, not many places available here at the moment. So buy this in the Netherlands. At Eva Air obligation to wear it while flying.
There is currently a late lock down on Saturday 2 May. not on the streets between 2200 and 0400 and moving between provinces. Alcohol is strictly prohibited until the end of May. On Monday 4 they will become a bit more flexible depending on each province (we have lived in Hua Hin every year). Hairdressers and small shopping centers and night markets will open again, etc.
If you have any questions, read breaking news Thailand on your phone and have fun. gr John v W

Why no alcohol? The ban will be lifted next Monday, but only for home use.

My girlfriend flew 2 mails to Bangkok: no choice of hotel in the bus to state hotel, let's call it far outside of Bangkok.

    Dag,

I think it is risky to rebook as long as not everything is 'officially' known.
(In the same case with Lufthansa, deli. May 12).
The departure from your own country, the flight conditions as well as the conditions that Thailand will impose on foreigners... and I am not sure about the latter...

    Greetings,
    Johan

I would leave for Thailand at the end of April. But my flight with EVA Air was of course also cancelled. Hope to leave at the end of June. At least when foreigners are allowed to enter Thailand. What worries me is that Foreign Affairs has issued a negative travel advice for Thailand. This means that you are not insured in any way. And not for your health insurance and not for your travel insurance.

In my opinion, your health insurance does not expire if you stay in or leave for a country with negative travel advice.

      • No, it's complete nonsense. There is also no negative travel advice. Is just a recommendation. Some travel insurers also provide cover for code orange.
When the security situation in a country deteriorates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may advise not to travel to that country. However, this does not mean that the ministry gives 'negative' travel advice: the ministry does not give 'positive' travel advice either. The travel advice from the ministry is not binding, it is only a warning.

Reimbursement up to a maximum of the costs that a certain treatment costs in the Netherlands: that is the standard, regardless of the color of a travel advice.

I'm talking about standard health insurance, Ronald, and my response is correct. Clearly?

You will have to consult the crystal ball to see how things will stand in a month's time. 🙂 So far, travelers have indeed been quarantined in hotels and military bases. Yes with 2 or 3 people of the same sex in a room.

The policy differs per province, with some you do not have to be quarantined from May 1, provided you have a Covid-free statement. How will that be in 1, 2, 3 months? Can't tell. I expect more and more relaxation but what the instructions are later this hair can only see a crystal ball.

From today May 3 you can buy alcohol everywhere, but only for home use, so not in restaurants or bars
