Reader question: With the meter taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya
Dear readers,
Soon we will go to Thailand again. Now we always had a taxi pick us up from the airport that had been arranged by friends. Now we were told the following:
They try to prevent fare evasion and scams and 1-12 a new system is introduced. That seems much better for the customers. After the customs story, people go outside. One goes to a counter and buys a taxi number for 50 baht. That number is the number of a taxi that is exclusively available for the customer. Taxi would be in mint condition.
This will drive you with the mandatory taxi meter to where you need to be. For Pattaya it is about 900 baht. That 50 baht is insurance. So about 950 baht total. Private vehicles will be banned. A good idea on the surface… but in practice?
Are there any bloggers who know more about this?
With kind regards,
Tjitske
If everything is properly arranged (permits for these taxi drivers, etc.) as the ministry would like, then this will go into 1/12. However, the money for the toll roads is for you and is not included in the meter price.
After the report about the new way of sailing from the airport, it has become quiet about the feasibility and realization.
Just follow the signs (Public transportation, taxi) at the airport. Going out at gate4 (if I remember correctly) you will see taxis all over the left (and buses behind them) On the sidewalk you will see all kinds of small stands with a 'missy' behind the counter and a queue of people in front. You choose one with the smallest row (just like with Albert Hein), show the 'miss' your ticket with the hotel or condo address in Pattaya or Jomtien, the miss then names a price that is 'fixed', the taxi driver know that ! He would like 100 bhat as a tip, which I wholeheartedly wish him! If there is nothing to earn, they will no longer be there. (Like the Dutch commercial spirit, there's nothing to earn, I'll stay in bed)
By definition I now take the bus to Pattaya. It has been mentioned here many times. For 134 baht pp they will take you to Pattaya. I find it extremely comfortable to drive.
A reckless taxi driver brought me to this, never the taxi again.
Departures every hour from the airport and from Jomtien ditto.
Go to exit 8 on level 1 and buy a ticket.
Depart from Jomtien at the Foodmarket.
http://www.airportpattayabus.com/
The last stretch to and from your hotel is unfortunately again dependent on a decent taxi driver.
We always do this now. We used to take a taxi, which is very expensive.
Have to say that this bus ride is always comfortable without any problems.
The duration of this ride from the airport to Jomtien is between one and a half and two hours, which is ideal, actually.
Exit 8 on level 1 is listed here again! Couldn't find it, maybe it's just me? I just follow the signs at the airport and then I go outside at exit 4 level 1, where all those stands are on the sidewalk with people in front of them all ordering a taxi from one of those stands. (The price is binding, the taxi driver knows that! In case of any complaints, the number is on the back of the front seats, remember it and immediately pass it on to the hotel reception .... they will solve it for you very quickly, the taxi driver also knows that.) Long story short: WHERE IS EXIT 8 ? After exit 4 there will be a wall, you cannot go any further …. So ? Thanks in advance for solution, regards Klaus
Hello Klaus,
I don't understand why you can't find it. Then ask a random passer-by.
Walk outside if necessary.
If you walk from the airport, it is completely on the left. look at the map of the mentioned
website.
If you ask for “Bus station” everyone knows where to go.
At gate 8 you can take the bus to Pattaya and to Hua Hin.
Go all the way down the treadmill, stay inside the building,
Ask at ticket desk Pattaya bus or ask at Food Court.
The sales counter is almost next to Food Court (by the way: recommended for many types of food at pleasant prices, much cheaper than at the top of the building, so a good address to take a break before departure or after arrival and possibly eat Thai food; is the same system as at Big C or Tesco Lotus).
I also use this bus, good drivers.
Arrival and Departure Jomtien: Thappraya Road (next to Foodmarket),
The only thing that has changed is that the papers are no longer issued by people, but by a computer column with a screen. You press the button and a receipt comes out - free of charge - with the taxi lane you need to go to. The 50 Baht extra has been allowed by the government for years. So there are no more people behind the tables and there is no longer a row of drivers. The taxis are still the same, it is really not the case that everyone had to buy a new taxi. The meter must be officially on, but that has also been the case for years, and to my knowledge is never done. The fixed rate to Pattaya, including the 50 Baht storage and including toll, has been 1500 Baht for years. Except during heydays such as New Year, when the roads are toll-free, the rate is 1300 Baht.
In most taxis, a laminated piece of paper hangs from one of the front seats with a list of destinations and associated (fixed) rates. When I arrived at Suvarnabhumi about ten days ago, the new system was being trialled, with only one column operating, so there was a short queue of two minutes. There was no taxi at the lane my printout indicated, but it arrived within one minute. I asked if it was still 1500 Baht to Pattaya and the driver was fine with it. Me, too.
The 50 baht has to be paid by the driver to be at the airport.
We never paid 1500 baht with tip and toll road average 1300 baht.
Back usually a little cheaper they stunt with it and I don't mean the taxi that is on the street. He recently wanted to haggle with 3000 in the morning he was already there corner street when we came back in the evening he was still there. The driver we had was okay good car stop halfway we paid him something to drink what he wants no Starbucks too expensive coffee 7 Eleven cheap okay. Now there's a tip for him.
I was at Suvarnabhumi last week and instead of tables there are now several columns on which you indicate where you want to go, the receipt has a number and above the taxis a large digital sign with the number of the receipt. The receipt has a barcode and when exiting, the taxi driver must hold it under a scanner and then the barrier will open.
In my opinion a perfect system, it went super fast, there were a lot of people, but not a single queue.
Not a single “black” driver at the airport, so no one to offer you a taxi. The number of “waiting” people at exit C was, in my opinion, halved.
The driver did try not to turn on the meter, but I drew his attention to that, first he mumbled something and then said again that he had to turn on the meter, only then did he do that, so he had to do the first kilometer. pay yourself and the tip was only 20 Bhat instead of a minimum of 50 Bhat which I always give.
I hope everyone pays close attention here, then that problem will also be solved.
Good advice take the bus.
departs as mentioned above level 1 and 134 bath
I have been doing this for a long time as I also have bad experiences with taxis.
One almost fell asleep…….and another time he drove off the main road (was very scared at the time) stopped in a small street and there I had to transfer to an old minivan……it took me to Pattaya but complained that I paid the ride too cheap (1000 bath) and was very unfriendly.
No, give me the comfortable and safe bus.
Hello all.
I have lived in Pattaya/Jomtien for over 10 years and have had the same reliable taxi driver for many, many years.
I drive Suvarnabhumi/Pattaya including everything, including the MotorWay, 1200 Baht. Drives very quietly and safely. Never had any problems.
His name is Khun Lek, email address: [email protected]
Usually we meet at Arrival exit 3 or 4. It is a small Chinese man.
Do meet on time and of course email in English.
Success.
Don't email all at once, because then there won't be room for me 🙂
I have been traveling for years with PT taxi service (based in Pattaya) from BKK to Pattaya vv..
Driver is waiting for me with a name sign. No further hassle. Spacious taxi. Ride price 1100 THB and Return 1000 THB, the difference is in the parking at the airport. Neatly arranged from BKK to Pattaya hotel.
You may contact us. Departure for BKK this Saturday.
May I ask you how I can contact the taxi in question please?
Does PT Taxi have an email address or telephone number?
With thanks.
I go by Mr T's taxi every year,
Just an email 2 weeks before my arrival, and an answer within 48 hours,
Costs 1000 bath bangkok pattaya, and back 900 bath,
Good taxi and good drivers,
Address via internet ff Google ,
And simply delivered to the address, no transfers, but on the road if necessary
A drink or a sanitary stop, good taxi and no scrap car,
Regards Han
mr. I also arranged T once, unfortunately Mr. T. did not show up.
Good choice Han, got a taxi from Mr. T arranged for a friend arriving on Sunday, Suvarnabhumi – Jomtien, as usual 1000 baht including toll.
So it is possible for that price!
A driver from Mr T. recently told me that they have never raised the price (or very little) since 2000, but that must be due to the fierce competition. From a hotel in Bangkok I paid 1100 and indeed always neat cars and drivers and no whining about tolls, etc.
May I ask you how I can contact the taxi in question please?
Does Mr T have an email address or phone number?
With thanks.
Here are the details of Mr T, they speak perfect English there because Mr T(ung) is on the phone himself:

Hello
Is it doable, with a large suitcase, and a hand luggage trolly pp, by bus from BKK to Pattaya.
Until now we have always taken a taxi for convenience, but did not have a good experience with it last year
Kind regards, Jacqueline vz
Luggage is no problem at all, everything goes in the underlying hold of the bus.
Thanks, I'll give it a try in January
we have been traveling with Thai-Call-Taxi from the airport to Pattaya for 5 years, price 1100 baht inc, toll roads with a large Toyota sedan with air conditioning, booking on the website Thai Call Taxi are ready on time at the airport with your name on the sign at Exit 3 you pay at the final destination.
hello tjitske
I travel to this beautiful country 3 times a year
in the past i was picked up by a comrade of my friend
it no longer works there and I went looking on the internet a few years ago
Then I got to know a woman who employs 4 people who drive for her
they are always recent cars and till now i pay 1000 bath all inclusive from bkk to pattaya
I am also always picked up by these people back in pattaya and even then I only pay 1000 bath
I will be back on December 22 and they are always ready at the measurement point
I can provide the email address if you wish
grs
Johan
Hello Johan,
Where exactly is the meeting point?
And I would like the e-mail address to [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
LOUISE
You can also take a special air-conditioned bus from the airport to Pataya. Buy tickets at the airport.
I don't understand why you would choose the taxi if the bus costs a tenth of the price. The Roong Reuang buses are very comfortable and take you to one of five exit points in Pattaya or Jomtien for 134 baht. From there you can find a baht bus into the city for 10 baht and you have actually saved a hotel stay.
Otherwise go with the bus of bell travel service will cost you 250 baht and you will be dropped off in front of your hotel.
You can find it on level 1 gate 8.
Find this more pleasant if you have to get out somewhere in the dark and then have to find your hotel yourself.
Is this taxi meter also valid on don muang to hua hin or what do i pay for 6 pers with a van
Thank you
walk down there and take the mini bus that will take you to pattaya bus station
and then on to your hotel have been doing this for several years now
and that is great for 250 bath
and if you fly with china you have plenty of time
why then with a taxi you already walk in pattaya at 10 am now maybe half an hour later
Perfect way to be easily dropped off at your Hotel in Pattaya for 250 baht.
This does count if you are traveling alone or with two people.
