Reader question: Is there still something to do in Jomtien?
Dear readers,
I am highly curious about situation in Jomtien. I have been coming there for years and usually stay at Jomtien Condotel. Every day I get a snack at Ons Moeder and at the Inn of Chiel and Pooh. I also regularly eat at the bars on soi 2.
Is there still life here or are they (temporarily) closed….?
I sympathize with everyone. Hope Corona is solved soon.
Regards,
Bart
The inn was up yesterday. Our mother seemed closed. But the situation here changes from day to day. Today it was again communicated that restaurants can serve food within 21 hours. Alcohol is not allowed. We ourselves have been able to eat everywhere so far.
If business is closed it is rather that keeping it open without seeing a customer is the reason rather than the measures.
It's very quiet here. But that is also relative….there is still more atmosphere here than in the cold dark low countries. In fact, everything that a person wants or desires is still available.
But as I wrote, it's all pretty confusing. What is not today, will be tomorrow and vice versa.

Every educational place, both government and private, must close, including private tutors.

Anyone violating the order will be punished with a fine of up to 100.000 baht or imprisonment for up to one year or both.
The order will take effect on January 4 until further notice. If you are not sure whether your business can open, if you are not on the list (we noticed that fishing parks and shooting ranges were missing) or what measures you need to take, please call the Pattaya call center at 1337. This list is, of course, subject to subject to change with new orders which we will translate and update as soon as possible.

British variant has also been found in Thailand, I hold my breath….
We are then neighbors because I live in Viewtalay 5c. As Fred writes, it's quiet here. I miss the permanent hibernators. Now it is very quiet at the pool where I used to always have a nice chat.
But I also enjoy the peace in the village where everything is still available. It's just a matter of finding where there are people and where the atmosphere is.
The Thai firmly believe in wearing a face mask. Fortunately, keeping a distance is not an option. At the moment the rules have been tightened up, but that will soon change. Your expectations should not be too high because it is definitely different than before, but always much better and healthier than the Netherlands.
I have little hope for a quick solution to the lockdown. Rather, expect it to be tightened and lengthened. So there is absolutely nothing to do. Horrible but true, an open prison. One company after another collapses or temporarily stops?. On Sunday I stood with Natan in front of a closed door.
Jomtien beach road has become a main road with a lot of noise from those motorcycles with their exhausts. Be careful when crossing. If you are looking for something to rent in due course I have 2 condos in view talay 5c available Bob116@ outlook.com
