Dear readers,

How much Euro can/can I bring from Thailand back to Europe? I have bank receipts showing that the money was imported from Belgium, both from my Belgian and Thai bank. Where should I report this to customs at the airport?

Regards,

Yan

From 10.000 € you must declare it. At the end of the airport departure hall there is a desk where you can do this. Last year I myself declared and executed an amount of > 50.000 €. Piece of cake!

Yes that is the export . But how much can you import ? that's the next question

      • Sjaakie says up

No, that does not seem to me to be the next question with regard to bringing funds from Thailand back to the Netherlands or. Europe.
The next question is what to do if you want to transfer Euros from your Thai bank account to the Netherlands.
If you have proof that the Euros also came from the Netherlands through a transfer from your Dutch to your Thai bank, have limits been set for this?
Do you also have to report this or are there restrictions?
Do you have to report that and if so where?

    Dear Yan,

As far as I know, you can bring/import up to 10.000 euros in cash. If you take more with you, you must report this to customs. Simply transferring by bank is of course much safer and not limited to a maximum amount.
You may want to save on transaction costs. Your travel insurance will also only pay out a maximum amount stated in the policy in the event of a loss.
    Succes

      What is Declaration obligation definition
Any natural person entering or leaving the Community, and cash equivalents
of EUR 10 000 or more, this amount must be declared to the competent authorities of the Member State through which they enter or leave the Community in accordance with this Regulation. The obligation to declare has not been complied with if the information provided is incorrect or incomplete.
      So it's 9.999,99.

      Definition Cash
banknotes and coins in circulation as legal tender.
checks, stocks, cash receipts, traveler's checks, etc.
Also the small money in your pockets.

What is NOT meant by “Cash”:
Banknotes and coins that only have a collector's value.
Technically, these are 'ordinary' taxable goods.
      Gemstones and precious metals.
(Electronic) debit cards and prepaid cards

I would use a bank card from Transferwise borderless account!

    • Sjaakie says up

@Vorster, tell me more, maybe a link, can't find that info on the Transferwise site for Thai Bath > Europe.
@GJKrol, is that not a limit cq. limit on what you can take out of Thailand?

  4. GJ Krol says up

As Avrammeir says, any amount above € 10.000 must be declared. There is no limit to what you can take with you, as long as you can prove that you arrived legally.

    This involves 2 questions.

    1. How much can I export from Thailand.
-That's $20.000 or equivalent foreign currency. Or up to 50.000 baht in Thai baht.

    2. How much can I import into the EU
-An equivalent of a maximum of 10.000 euros in liquid assets, eg money or securities.

If you have more than 10.000 euros in cash, you must make a declaration in the departure hall at Schiphol (when you arrive there). So before passport control.

Please note that you do not happen to have a few euros in your pocket somewhere, because they add them.
My wife flew to Bangkok at the beginning of the year and was taken off the waiting line.
Madam was asked how much money do you have?
My wife is so honest as to say she had €9950 on her.
    Come with me ma'am.
In the office with 2 gentlemen from the tax authorities opposite her, she had to empty her bag.
Turns out she still had €60 Thai money with her.
    So €10 too much.
    Fine €1000
Tried to do something about this from the Netherlands, but nothing was negotiable.
    Could pay in installments.
    So pay close attention.

Yes, because that topic has never been covered on TB... So watch out

      @Sopha
And everyone here also says 10000 thoughtlessly ….. no up to 9999 € without a declaration Because FROM 10000 you must declare
That is why customs invariably ask if you have € 10 or more with … .. that 000 euro higher than 1 gives them all the power

Hello, the questioner only asks how much he can bring from Thailand to Europe, so all other well-intentioned advice is superfluous, so 10.000 euros without having to declare it.
    Greetings, Harmen Ban Tako.

  8. Daniel VL says up

Google I think you can export $ 30.000 from Thailand with which rate is converted depends on the daily rate ??? normally you can execute what you have ever indicated at input. With papers
I always go to the counter where you can declare goods after receipt of luggage, so money is also counted
In Europe you can enter up to € 9.999 freely, if more is required.

  9. Daniel VL says up

I don't know how it works with bank statements, better ask in the bank, they make a total list

  10. david h. says up

Free cash without obligation to declare export Thailand is 15000 us dollars worth in any foreign currency ….was previously 20 000 dollars value but quietly raised to 15000

Peculiarity…. in Thai notes only 50000 baht, strange but true TIT, more allowed to neighboring countries
