Dear readers,

I am having problems getting my life certificate signed for my company pension.

Since 1 Jan 2018 I only have the choice of 4 instances:

  1. City Hall
  2. Immigration Service
  3. Law enforcement
  4. civil-law notary

Do you notice that (Ned./Eur.) embassy or consulate is not on the list?

This was compiled by AZL, a pension provider for dozens of pension funds with more than 10 million pensioners (not all of them living abroad, of course) in Heerlen. would no longer have it in their package of tasks. I will inquire at the NL embassy/consulate whether this decision has actually been issued. I suspect that it concerns a decision for EU countries that has been stretched by AZL and even then it is strange that a ned. government agency abroad is no longer accepted. Apparently it is no longer just a statement of life.

I live in the area of Sanpatong (28 km from Chiangmai).

Now the Thai government agencies are falling off for me, they are not willing to cooperate, they think it is a matter between a Dutchman and Dutch authorities and they want to stay out of it. I know it's different in Pattaya and Jomtien.

What remains is a notary or a lawyer with a notarial note. In Thailand people do not really know the notary, this is a lawyer who is closely affiliated with the government as in Europe (and the Netherlands). They do know lawyers here who arrange inheritances and draw up wills, but you can transfer the house yourself at the Land Office and arrange a mortgage yourself with the bank.

Now last year I had a lawyer sign, with the description lawyer in the Life certificate, which was then refused. I probably should have asked him to put notary (notarial affairs) in the description instead of jurist. Now I had a neighbor who works for the municipality of Fang and who knows the mayor with whom she regularly consults in her work. But now I recently moved and have been searching with above result.

In short, can someone recommend a lawyer with a “notarial” note in Chiangmai or the surrounding area (Sanpatong/Hang Dong), please give the address and what this person asks for it (Baht).

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Gerard (San Patong)

Isn't that possible with the SSO?

    • HarryN says up

The SSO only signs the SVB life certificate.

I always have it signed at my local hospital. Signature doctor and stamp at the cash register and costs me 80 bath. Immigration, municipality and police are afraid to sign, as they do not speak languages.

Hello. Having it signed and stamped by the hospital is not approved (rejected) by Pensioenfonds PME. I just have it signed and stamped at the Embassy in Bangkok (it's free)
At the municipality or Immigration or a notary does not work!!!!!!!!!
      Gr Ari.

I, too, have been making my empathetic statement for several years now, at a private hospital in the city of lamphun.
However, it should be noted that this is not for a pension fund but for an annuity with the Nationale Nederlanden.
I know from experience that things are difficult with our Amphur.
Here too no one speaks or can read English .
Fear of signing something then is very present among the local civil servants.

Gerard, I've had a similar challenge. you already provided the solution yourself. Just go to a lawyer / master of law / lawyer who has also completed the notarial training. However, you should not reason yourself:

Now last year I had a lawyer sign, with the description lawyer in the Life certificate, which was then refused. I probably should have asked him to put notary (notarial affairs) in the description instead of jurist. Now I had a neighbor who works for the municipality of Fang and who knows the mayor with whom she regularly consults in her work. But now I recently moved and have been searching with above result.

just google for lawyer and if you have found it see if that notary has it. Zoe, just go. Piece of cake BUT make sure that his stamp states that he is a notary. Usually that will be the case. So the solution is simple. After all, a lawyer is the first phase of law school. Really doesn't mean much. Lawyer and notary have learned a bit more and a formal position. So you must have it. It really is a piece of cake. Costs you roughly 1000 baht. Good luck

The simplest solution is to ask your pension fund whether they also accept the SVB certificate of life. Then you can simply have this signed at one SSO office and send one copy to your pension fund.

    Gerard,
It is still possible at the embassy, it is still on their website Nederlandwereldwijd.nl
    https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/wonen-werken/verklaringen-regelen/verklaring-van-in-leven-zijn-attestatie-de-vita/thailand
Furthermore, if you are also entitled to AOW from the SVB, the statement from the Thai Social Security Office (SSO) in your place of residence will suffice, which will stamp the proof of life from the SVB free of charge.
The SVB processes this and most if not all pension funds can then consult this data.
You will therefore no longer receive further proof of life from the pension fund.
To be sure, contact your pension fund.

Last week I also received the form (life certificate), completed it the same day and went to the main police station in Hua Hin. The lady behind the counter opposite the entrance spoke to me kindly and was very quick to understand, stamps wherever I wanted them, added a signature and I was done. Paying, I knew it would be 300 bath and so I had it ready in my hand. Earlier I was taken to the 1st floor and in a room I also received my statement, but I was charged 500 bath for it. The lady didn't make a fuss and accepted my 300 bath with a friendly smile. She placed her phone, which those things are not good for, over the three hundred baths and greeted me as she should. Whether that 300 bath ended up where it was intended is a question for me and a question for the lady in question!

At the end of 2017 – like all previous years – I had my “living form” signed off and stamped by SSO. It is located in the provincial house in Chiangmai. That signed form then goes to SVB (AOW club) and they communicate it with your other pension funds (I have 3; I have never had any problems or questions.

As usual, all kinds of possibilities are suggested. The only institution that can offer a solution is the pension fund to which you are affiliated. If they accept the proof of life from the SVB then it is simple. SSO signs the SVB certificate of life. Forward this to all pension funds you have and ask whether this is approved. If so, you only have to go to the SSO once a year.

The “my government” site lists a large number of pension funds that are affiliated.

    Success.

Where can I find that information about Geertg?

Indeed, have the SSO signed and stamped, uploaded via MY SVB to the SVB and copies to the pension providers. But beware, some wish that the received document is not older than 3 months, for example STG INDUSTRIAL PENSION FUND FOR THE RETAIL TRADE who have their own burden of proof. The SSO offices are listed on the SVB life certificate, but the SSO has many branches, so search in your own region.

  11. Hank Hollander says up

Every year, this year for the first time via MijnOvrtheid, I receive the life certificate from the SVB. I have to have that completed by the Social Security Office in my hometown of Roi Et. The SVB will then inform my pension fund ABP. Filling in with other organizations, so no hospital, immigration police, etc. is no longer allowed. At the embassy, but that is 600 km. beyond. The SSO is 5 minutes from my house.

  12. Christian says up

    Geertg gave a good suggestion.
I also managed to get a pension fund to accept the certificate of life signed and stamped by SSO.

  13. Gerard says up

Dear people, thanks for the suggestions.
As for the SSO that signs for the SVB, it will only be accepted by AZL if it is not older than 3 months.
Now I read somewhere (TB 2015) that the SVB can send the life certificate early on request so that it coincides or falls within the 3-month period. AZL, the pension provider, is not willing to agree to my request to have the statement of life coincide with that of the SVB. So that is an option to use next time, but first verify with SVB.

But for now I'm going to follow John's suggestion and look for a lawyer with a notarial note in my area, which was the reason I put this question here on TB, but it didn't yield any concrete results.

I did that differently. I copied the blank statement from the SSO and made a stash of it.

If the letter from the pension club came later than three months, I went back to the SSO, got a 'fresh' statement and submitted it. People don't make things difficult at the SSO, after all, your latest statement is deep in that folder, and the statement is drawn up again.

Free. I only had to make copies myself, the SSO had no budget for that with us ...
