Dear readers,

On 17/7 we visit Sukhothai and wanted to travel by night train from Phitsanulok to Chang Mai in the evening, but apparently these tickets (via the official site) are already sold out.

Apparently one can also take the bus to Chang Mai. Where, how and how often can you take this bus? And does anyone know the price of such a bus trip?

Yours faithfully,

Tania

With the green line bus about 250 baht and about 3,5 hours. By train in 6 hours. The train runs very slowly and stops in almost every village.

    Hello Tania

Phitsanulok has an excellent bus connection with Chiang Mai
Take the new bus station and a VIP bus. The bus is faster than the train.

This is what I'm going to give up: dead simple questions that are already printed in every do-it-yourself travel guide. Just go to the bus station-city bus or tukx2, look a bit desperate and someone will come to your aid in no time to point you to the right counter- practically every hour throughout the day, choice between VIP/1st/2nd cl, although many buses are passing through from elsewhere and they only know if there is room when they walk in, costs depend. of the class less or about as much as that damn train, without the sky-high commission on it, would cost.
From now on, the editors can always preprint the same answer themselves, right?
Incidentally, this route is in fact too short for a night ride - about 5 hours.

It is sometimes difficult to find a bus station in TH. So it's not such a silly question.
Because I can reasonably help myself to ask for directions in TH, it's not much of an issue for me.

But found my first time in Pitsanulok, also my first time exploring outside of PTY TH, quite funny. I had arrived in P'lok by train, booked a hotel and boarded a tuk-tuk at the station the next day. I wanted her Sukhothai. And he said 50 Baht. I thought, no money for 50 km. But that smart guy dropped me off at the bus station. And I would never have been to that bus station otherwise.

Returning from Sukothai to Philok is easy. It is a frequent route mainly used by tourists.
In Philok it is a bit of a hassle with the bus station if you do not know that the bus station moved in 2014 to a location far outside the city.

Check out the google maps link below:

    https://www.google.be/maps/search/phitsanulok+new+bus+station/@16.7889062,100.3059435,12z

There you will see Bus station no. 2. You need that if you want to go from Philok to CM.
It is a busy route. Several buses per hour during rush hour.
If you leave in the evening, a first class bus is comfortable.
Bus sukothai-Philok costs something between 30 and 40 baht.
Philok-CM can be found for 200 to 300 bath.

From Sukothai you come via road nr 12 and you drive to CM via road nr 11 ... and don't let the bus station nr 2 be located at the "Indochina" intersection of these two main roads. Of course not coincidentally so arranged by smart Thai 🙂

If your friend uses google and e.g. bus Philok CM will guide you and the price issue pleasantly minuscule given the distance 🙂

This link provides information about the train and bus connections Philok-CM. However, there are more bus(companies) than indicated on this site. Prices and travel times are comparable.
