Dear readers,

Do you also have information about how to apply for the state pension if you already live in Thailand?

Applying for the state pension online is only reserved for DigiD loggers, but that is not possible if you officially live in Thailand.

I am very grateful for your response.

Sincerely,

Bottoms

We are not Dutch ourselves, but we have worked there. Requested for my husband last year and now I automatically received the papers for me. No problem at all

That is possible: simply follow the procedure to first obtain a DIGID number via the Dutch embassy (and pick it up in person at the embassy) and then apply for the state pension online.
That's how I did it and I've been living in Bangkok since 2006, before I reached state pension age.

    Bass, is the problem:

    1. the application for a DigiD?
    2. the two-step verification with an SMS?

For the application I refer to Chris's answer. For the two-step verification, didn't we talk about that a while ago in this blog?

If you just go to the SVB site you can find all the information there.
The most important one is that you should contact us 6 months before your retirement.
This can be done in various ways. https://www.svb.nl/nl/aow/contact/bepaal-uw-vestiging

The SVB will then contact you.

You can still just apply for a Digid.

You can find all the information on the Digid / Apply for abroad website.
Good luck and have a nice time there.

I am suprised. I have been living in Thailand for eight years, but my DIGId (obtained in the Netherlands) still works. However, if you do not have a DigiD (anymore), you must – as far as I know – contact the SVB in writing.
