Home » Reader question » Reader question: Is my uncle still alive in Jomtien, who can help me?
Dear readers,
My mother's brother has been living in Jomtien near Pattaya for many years. For some time now we have suspected that he would no longer be alive. This month of August, if he is still alive, he would be 88 years old.
We don't want to publicize anything because it is quite possible that his wife lives on his pension. Who am I to take away?
Do you know if there is someone reliable in that region to contact my uncle or Thai aunt? This way my mom would finally know what is going on with her brother, he doesn't respond to our mail like a long time. And we don't have a phone number.
I would give his address if anyone wants to contact me to check in Jomtien.
Rudy Verbeeck

Hi Rudi
I am living in Jomtien
If you can provide me with some more information, I'll let you know.
Here in Soi 7 there is a bistro with a Dutch owner and where many Dutch people come to drink a coffee. On the Beach Road there is a restaurant, the Tulip house, where many Dutch people also come.

Chris
i have been staying in jomtien for a long time but certainly don't know anyone well into my eighties let alone 88.
what is his name and where is he from, or was he perhaps a schoolmaster?
If your uncle is no longer alive and his Thai partner would still collect his pension, then it is good that you report this, otherwise this woman will be in great trouble if she has to pay everything back.
Maybe a picture of your uncle or an address would be useful.
you can also check with Peter van Dubble Dutch questhouse and restaurant on soi welcome in Jomptien, he has been there for quite a few years and knows most of the Dutch people who stay there.
good luck with the quest.

Hallo,
I have been living permanently in Jomtien for 5 years now and have been coming for 15 years.
If you wish, I will try to help you in this.
mvg Kees Plumers, soi chayaprug, Jomtien
If he lives in JomtienComplex then I know him.
Judging from your letter I think he comes from Belgium. You can ask the embassy in Bangkok (in writing and include a copy of identification) whether this person has not died, you will simply receive an answer, if it is known. If a foreigner dies here, the embassy will know immediately. good luck
Dear Rudi,
If the embassy cannot provide a definite answer. Jan Modaal, who of his own accord and without profit, can put you on the right track, hopefully.
Contact them in advance, good luck, Davis.
hi rudi I knew a girl who was in trouble because her husband had died, she was in her 80s, she received his pension for 5 months and then she received collection letters or she wanted to pay back, she was in Jomtien but she comes out Surin because he did not send proof of life, the pension has been stopped. If you want to know more, email me, I believe he had a son but no contact with his family. Greetings Joop.
Dear everyone,
I got to know this blog through “David Diamant”…for which I and my family are very grateful. With the hope of just tips or responses to my investigation message... I almost fell over with surprise... in a few days I received dozens of responses... everyone who sent an email to me... thank you... I did not send you all a personal answer... that's why I do it this way.
A response came from Jomtien himself, it was Peter and Khun Boonnoon…these lovely people went looking for the address I had forwarded to them. Luckily my Thai aunt still lives there with her cousin. My uncle has passed away in the meantime, but we already suspected that… he would have turned 88 this month… and then the chance that he had died is already a bit greater, isn't it?
Even better…Peter was even able to send us some pictures of my aunt and uncle, pictures of my uncle's last year of life…it was amazing to me that I saw my grandfather…my uncle was a copy of his own father in that picture…. 🙂
Once again I would like to thank Peter and Khun Boonnoon for their investigation…David Diamant for the tip of this blog…and of course everyone who sent me a response offering help…
Thank you everyone!
Rudje and his Mama….
