Can I take my bicycle on the Skytrain in Bangkok?
Dear readers,
Thursday, November 29 I arrive at 10.05 am with a KLM flight at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi BKK) airport. I have a bicycle with me.
From November 29 I booked a hotel near the Praha River, Chinatown area. I don't want to cycle from the airport, but find a good alternative. I want to take my bicycle on the Skytrain.
Can someone tell me if this is possible and if not, is there an alternative?
Regards,
Frank
How about a taxi? Also have a slightly larger model available in which the bike fits easily.
Or just cycling is of course also possible.

When the bicycle is packed very compactly, so the front wheel is removed, the pedals are removed, the handlebars are removed, the bicycle can be taken along. But watch out. You certainly can't get your bike onto the train during the morning rush hour.
Better is: take the 'airport' link to Paya Thai and take a tuk-tuk to your hotel.
Succes
Bike in bike case no problem me
Assume it's a race or Atb!!
You have soft and hard case suitcases / bags
Did it myself with no problem
A folding bike is of course also possible
Succes
Ps but taxi seems more convenient to me !!!!
We boarded the skytrain with a group of Ko van Kessel during the evening rush hour with about 12 bicycles…!!
Dear Frank, of course you mean the airport link, the skytrain (BTS) does not go to the airport. Your bicycle will be packed in a special bag/box, otherwise it will not be allowed on the plane. In addition, you naturally also have other luggage with you. I'm actually curious how to get to Schiphol, do you also want to go there by train? The skytrain from the airport to Paya Thai in Bangkok is usually packed, even with normal luggage it is already a challenge to travel with it, let alone if you also want to take a (packed) bicycle with you. I therefore advise against it, whether or not it is officially allowed. The alternative is therefore a taxi, because of the costs you do not have to leave that, but the question is whether that bicycle box / bag will fit in it. A lot of luggage space is already taken up by the gas tank in a normal taxi. So you will probably need a larger taxi and you may have to wait a little longer at the airport. You can also book in advance, plenty to find via Google. Wish you a pleasant and above all safe cycling holiday.
Just take a slightly larger taxi.
Frank
I just spent 5 days in Thailand myself and brought my racing bike from the Netherlands. You can order a taxi immediately after you have picked up the bike and your suitcase from the band. We had to go to don muang airport and paid 1400bath. The taxi is an Isuzu and the bicycle case fit easily. Have fun cycling.
1400.- Baht WoW
With 1.400 baht you are taken by the nose, even half is too much. But yes if you like it.
Best regards. Ben Korat
There is a shuttle bus from the airport and you can just take your luggage with you, costs about 50 baht. There is also one that goes to Kaosan road as far as I know and there will be more destinations, I think they leave on the first floor, just inquire.
UNDER that ARL - from the 1st station after the airport (after the bend) is Lard Krabang station, from which regular 3rd kl SRT = state rail trains (rickety old wooden wagons) run approx. every hour under the entire ARL and on to Hualampong main station driving (NOT in the evening), people ticket costs 7 bt, bicycles I don't know-have to in the luggage car in the back.
The shuttle bus from tb is a regular orange AC city bus from the BMTA costs 60 bt and definitely does NOT take a yakkajaan (= bicycle). There also seems to be an airport limo (same type as at DMK) that makes the trip at 150 bt - no idea what they allow.
