Dear readers,

I'm going to Bangkok for the 2nd time soon with a friend. Last time I met a nice Thai lady who works for a car rental company.

I once went away with her, just cozy and something to eat, no fuss.

We are not in a relationship, but occasionally we email and text each other.

I now want to bring her a present from the Netherlands, but I'm not sure what it should be. Something really "Dutch". Have already bought perfume, but that is not really from our country.

Do you have a tip? It doesn't have to be something big, but something original. She is 31 years old. I don't wear clogs because I don't know her shoe size.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards,

Remco

Stroopwafels in such a tin in delft blue style. Comes from the Xeno's or maybe the Blokker. Do they have any more cute ones (narak).

My experience is that Thais love sweet and don't like salt at all.
So: no licorice (not even the sweet ones). Better choice: stroopwafels.
Or else: something for the home, but made of wood…

    Hey Remco

I have a similar relationship with a Thai lady and I brought her stroopwafels and cheese.

    Greetings Marco

    Stroopwafels are widely available here.
2 x a year for sure there are friends who bring peppermint and Hema sausage, they really look forward to that.
I really have to defend it in order to enjoy it myself .
They like sweet licorice, but they also love salmiak.
They don't touch the cheese and once they get the taste of herring, you can have the tail.

Delfs Blauw (made in Taiwan) always does well. Not too flashy, so that lady can put it on her desk or something and then keep thinking about ke. A nice framed photo of Amsterdam or Keukenhof is also a nice gift.

I used to always have a few key rings with clogs with me during my travels, it has tempted many a lady at a check-in desk to give me an upgrade.

      Hello Ger,

Those work well for me too.
Add a few black diamonds and I'll have some nice earrings again.

      ger,

you do have a sense of humour.

You may have visited Thailand more than twice.

I myself had more in mind a credit card from the Netherlands and with tulips printed on the outside and a number with 4 digits on the inside.

      jeffrey.

Nice flower arrangement made of Euro bills always goes in. Pack with a smile.

A few Hema smoked sausages, typically Dutch

  10. Berghuis Jan says up

    Not really Dutch
But a box of Belgian chocolate is a real winner

    • Marc says up

Put all Dutch feelings aside !!
Only Belgian top chocolate (Godiva etc..) is a guarantee of success

~Chocolate always works, they also like to share. no licorice, they find that dirty. They leave cheese. I have a bad experience with Hema smoked sausages. Souvenirs such as clogs and windmills will not work. the best is chocolate. I have to take a kilo every time. Everyone is looking forward to chocolate.

kind regards jw. (always works well) 555555.

Read the question carefully or you will miss the point. Faint.

My girlfriend also always wants chocolate and stroopwafels. She really loves that. Contrary to what is written above, my girlfriend likes cheese and liquorice. I have to try Hema sausages. I just don't know if they can make it difficult at customs.

If you just give a pair of clogs or windmills.

Hi Remco, small clogs, preferably Delft blue, always do well with the ladies. We often take them with us as a keychain, and they proudly show it to everyone. You can also buy nice little clogs at the Xenos to just put down. Good luck and good journey. m.f.gr. Jeannette

    Enter xenos!
I fill cups (with molems and wooden shoes, etc.) with chocolate bonbons. (Do it yourself) A kitchen shorts, oven gloves, tablecloth with print in blue colors. Images with clogs/mills again.
Really costs 2x nothing! Always a success for me. They also love the keychains with farmer's wife and farmer or clogs. Also for a few euros! Good luck! And stroopwafels are widely available here.

Frikandellen, Croquettes, Cooked sausage, UNOX smoked sausage, Brussels waffles, oliebollen, stroopwafels, Christmas stollen (the real one), key ring with clogs or windmills, etc.
A nice necklace with a windmill and/or clogs,
A wall plate in delft blue.
    Those big beer glasses
Those little dolls in traditional costumes.
A credit card with sufficient balance.
    A visa to the Netherlands.

  18. Wim says up

Buy a gold chain in Holland with a wooden shoe or a windmill on it.
She can't exchange or exchange that as quickly as Thai gold

  19. Tony says up

Buddhas from the Blokker, often cheaper than what a Falang has to pay for them in Thailand, guess where those Buddhas were made... And you don't give Buddha to friends, by the way

  20. Wim Jonker says up

    Dear Remco,

I would bring her a large bunch of mixed tulips,,, (packed tightly by the florist)
I am sure she will be very happy with it!

    Have fun in Bkk!

    Regards,
    Wim

my experience is that a true friend who knows what is for sale in the world really appreciates a bunch of fresh dutch tulips. tulip bulbs want to work if they first go through an artificial hibernation in the refrigerator. credit cards and Thai gold will definitely work for non-sincere girlfriends. stroopwafels are also certainly good, cheese is becoming a bit more difficult, but definitely worth a try!

    From Thai experience

    – Not something that can be sold
    – Not something that is domestic
    – Not something fake

    – A bundle of banknotes
    – Real jewelery (so not a viewing shop)
    – Something was ” face ” yields
    – Real galaxcy, ipad etc. not the fake ones

Well recognizable foldable and especially very expensive umbrellas from a long past
