Home » Reader question » Reader question: Annual visa is expiring, what options do I have?
Dear readers,
My question is: My 1 year Thailand non-immigrant visa expired in September. What can I do or can I make another visa run to Cambodia for 3 months? Or do I have to go to an immigration office here in Thailand for a 3 month stamp?
I can't find a proper answer to this question on your blog; hence this question.
Kind regards,
Geert
You can make another visa run before the visa expires, that way a year visa is actually a 15 months visa!!
If you are 50 and you can also have the financial resources converted at immigration, for a so-called “retirement visa” even if you do not have financial resources (I mean those 800k in the bank), in Pattaya there is a “solution” for that problem, just ask around!
What am I hearing here again.
Recently read the same story, also on this Forum.
Yes, to be able to get a Retirement visa in Pataya lower than the minimum of 800000 Thai baths.
How is that possible again???
Here at the immigration in Chiangmai they certainly don't do that as far as I know.
I had a small problem with my bank accounts last time.
Had much more than the minimum required but was scattered across a few banks and accounts especially Depositos.
(deposits) which are all in my name and there is already another problem.
Too much work to check, the officer said to my wife.
Must have 800000THB on one bank account.
I couldn't find this anywhere on any website.
Or maybe I missed something after all , you never know .
Next year I will just continue and will not be annoyed by this anymore .
I know some are cheating , to put it bluntly .
And borrow money from buddies for 3 months.
So actually not much has changed from the past, that you had to declare on the day to have enough specimen (is enough money) for one year visa.
Mvg Jantje.
To convert non im O to retirement visa (50 years plus) you must go to the immigration office in your region, bring a completed tm47 form, a letter from the bank with proof of 800.000 baht, or a proof of income (+/- 1650 euros ) signed by the embassy, or a combination of both, eg 400.000 in the bank and +/- 825 euros p/m income.
a number of copies of relevant passport pages,
then you have extended for a year and you have to show yourself every 3 months with a TM 47 form plus your passport
If you apply for an income statement at the embassy and pay via internet banking, don't forget to send proof that you have paid, they reverse the burden of proof, apparently they cannot check this themselves with their bank, keep your proof of shipment from the post office, to can prove that and when you sent the application, and don't forget the return envelope with a stamp, because they will return your application without mercy.
As for Thai Immigration: a note of 1000 THB in your passport works wonders, that note will be hidden away in the shortest possible time, you do not have to do a vias run, and you have your annual visa, papers in order or not
Moderator: you must have something to say, otherwise it's chatting.
Hello Geert, you can indeed make a run for an extra 3 months just before your visa expires. but after that you have to choose whether you convert your visa to a ritirement visa, but then you must have 3 baht in your bank account for 800.000 months.
And if you don't have that then there is another option to go to Penang (Malisia) then you only need your marriage papers and a bank book (it doesn't have to say much)
There you can get a new year non im O visa without any problems. there are div. offices that can arrange all that for you and the costs are (with flight ticket and hotel overnight stay) about 5000 Baht.
You have to take 3 days for it, but it is a nice trip to a neighboring country and then you can enjoy it for another year.
I do this regularly and also have the necessary contacts there so if you want more info just ask me.
Gr. luckyluke
Thank you very much for your answer to my question if I want to know more I will contact you
You read so much on the internet you can do this or do that but now I can first do a visa run and see after 3 months
I have been coming to Thailand for 8 years now and have a non-immigrant visa every year, but I always return to the Netherlands after 8 or 9 months, but now I want to stay in Thailand
Sorry for the question here; what about the 400000 bath (on the bank) if you are married to thai is this still enough or is that completely past?
answer would be grateful to me and some future ones 🙂
If you are married then 400.000 baht in the bank is sufficient. This arrangement is still in place.
