Reader question: How much import duty do I have to pay?
Dear readers,
I am planning to buy a UTV, it is for sale in Thailand for thb 145.000. If I buy it through Alibaba, it comes to € 2000, - the shipping is included.
But here it comes, no one can tell me how much import duty I have to pay, the seller, the Thai customs, everyone is a bit vague about the amount.
The customs site is also unclear, who can help me?
Regards,
Geert
As long as I don't know what a UTV is I can't figure it out for you......
I think what is meant here is a TUV, something like a Hummer.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side_by_Side_(UTV)
I should have looked it up before responding.
I wouldn't. Chances are that the warranty on the device only counts in Asia. This is the case for many devices. That is not what selling is selling.
Geert you must have an invoice stating the cost of the product, so your UTV and the transport costs to Thailand.
The import costs will be around 35% of the total amount of product + transport.
There are lists that state how much it is exactly, but I don't have that for a TV, but if you assume 35%, you are good at a maximum of 5% +/-.
Incidentally, a UTV Samsung curve 65 inc costs under 100,000 in Thailand. Baht
realist
A utv is a kart or buggie, I think it will be difficult if there is a license plate on it.
Check the price at Lazada.com
A vehicle that is imported into Thailand is taxed as a luxury goods that rises to 100% import tax to be paid. If you want to know it correctly, get a proforma invoice from the supplier and ask at a shipping office in klong toey, port of bangkok. They can request a proposal from customs. Buy it best in Thailand, these importers buy with a full container and are served cheaper anyway and know the loopholes. Recently, when purchasing a machine, she also wanted to give me a full price, but by sending an extensive description, they gave me the benefit of the doubt. On an amount of 2850Usd goods I paid a total of 22000 bath shipping included. Attention… the shipping your supplier is talking about is the transport to the port in China… they are born cheats there… be wary.
If it concerns a vehicle, first check whether it is allowed in the Netherlands? Europe. It could well be that this vehicle (if it concerns a vehicle) cannot even obtain a permit for the Netherlands. Or it could cost an awful lot of money to get it adapted for a Dutch admission.
It can be a curved TV but also a kind of quad. Curious about what it actually is :-).
Every product has a so-called HS code. Request this and look up the corresponding amount of import duties http://www.customs.go.th.
Still don't know what a UTV is now. One says a TV the other a vehicle. In the latter case, excise duties may also be due.
Utv = ultra terrain verhickle / vehicle for driving in all terrains (buggy, quad)
That's right, no TV.
I experienced the same thing at Alibaba when I wanted to order a ride-on mower, it was delivered to Laem Chabang, there I had to pick it up myself and possibly pay at customs. After several emails that were all equally unclear, I decided against it anyway because it came to my attention that perhaps almost 100% import duties were due. Coincidentally, I was later able to buy the same copy (new) at an auction in Bangkok. By the way, Alibaba is actually for wholesale (so per container) and Aliexpress is for the private individuals. And they also deliver to the door.
Assuming that UTV means a quad or quad-like vehicle, the international HS customs code is presumably 8703101100
Just search for pictures with that number on Google.
For this product, 80% import duties must be paid in Thailand, see

pity that Geert has not yet told what his article really is. Everyone is doing their best, but without knowing what they really want to introduce, we won't get any further.
Thanks for the many responses, it concerns a vehicle so no TV. After calculating, I chose to buy the UTV from the dealer in bangkok, the difference in price is not big enough to make up for all the misery with forms and customs officials who want to make a profit.
An example of a Belgian friend, and this is simply what it will cost you and not in %. He buys an e motorized bicycle cost +- 45.000 baht (china-asie) with ship and customs it cost him 140.000 e-mail if I ask him this 'do not write that this bicycle has in thl, special very heavy batteries.
Geert, I know that there is also a dealer on the highway between Pranburi and Hua Hin Wangpong that sells those things, I have seen a few in front of the door, it is only where you live if you want, I can look for you, I live close by nearby .0872694301
I have already found the next seller, it will be http://www.thaiatvsales.com/atv%20new.html
Tonymarony, that dealer, an Australian, has been gone for at least a year. A construction company has now moved there… I don't know where he went. It wasn't exactly a good location for that either.
