Hello dear readers,

I am Kim and already quite familiar with Thailand (every summer holiday since 2001 4/5 weeks to South East Asia. Usually Thailand). Still, apart from Samui, I'm going to see new things now.

Now I'm going to this beautiful country with my friend next summer vacation. This will be the first time for him. Now we are going to Phuket for a week, where we rent a car. We then go by car to Ao Nang where we will also stay for about a week, after which we drive to Surat Tani to drop off the car there and take the boat to Koh Samui.

Now my question is: Do you have any tips for sights that may not be very well known or are often forgotten or just a must see to visit during the trip. Or maybe you know nice restaurants where we can eat well on the way?

    Dear Kim,

    If you travel from Phuket to Krabi you drive on "highway" 4 on the way you have a choice to follow the road through the mountains, very beautiful or down (through the valley) the 4311 and the 1002.
    I think via the mountains with its winding roads and beautiful views is much nicer, but it is longer.
    On the way you will come across a cave temple "Wat Kiriwong", definitely stop for a while.

    If you are in Ao Nang, you should definitely eat at Frog and Catfich, very good food and a special location.

      Thanks for the tips! Is the route through the mountains a safe route? Or do you have to take into account dangerous overtaking etc. there?

      Is the Wat Kiriwong indicated?
