Reader question: Fittings for your motorbike mirrors
Dear readers,
Many compatriots ride a motorcycle in Thailand. Many compatriots are much wider in the shoulders than the Thai. And so the motorcycles are equipped with mirrors that, no matter how you adjust them, mainly give a great view to the back of your shoulders and to events to your left and right. But not what's happening behind you.
At least, it is somewhat possible, if you let your head, elbows and the rest of your body make all kinds of strange movements. And, like not being able to see anything behind you, is not really pleasant in Thai traffic, if not extremely dangerous.
There are attachments for sale in America and England to make your mirrors stick out a bit further, upwards and to the side, but I have not yet come across this handy attachment in Khon Kaen.
Nor have I been able to find mirrors with longer arms.
Is there anyone who can provide a solution? Attachments or longer mirror arms. The face also wants something, so extend the existing mirror arms by baking a piece in between? Well no.
Come on, who knows the solution?
Regards,
HansNL
The mirrors of a honda pcx are wider and fit all other scooters
Had the same problem
Well, problem. Buy a PCX or a yamaha 135 nouveau, problem solved. Or else its mirrors. If you are on a children's bicycle, you cannot stretch your legs.
I am 195 tall, 134 kg, correspondingly wide and can see in my rear view mirrors just fine on the PCX.
Jasper, believe me, solving a problem with mirrors by buying another motorcycle is very short sighted, don't you think?
By the way, nice that you ride a PCX, and not a "children's bike"
PS, I ride a Yamaha Nuovo, and I still have the problem indicated above.
The mirrors of the PCX?
However, it's not about bigger or smaller mirrors.
It's about the arms.
The mirror should be higher or wider, preferably both.
.
PCX isn't that 150cc lady bike HaHa
I also had that problem with my Honda Click 125i.
I went to one of the many dealers and explained (with hands and feet) that the mirrors were not far enough out.
Two new mirrors, which were out enough, cost me a total of 180 Bath (less than € 5,00) and they were also set up right away.
So my advice: buy some new mirrors and keep the original ones..
One of the possible solutions for eg a Yamaha Nuovo is to buy a mirror set for the Yamaha Tricity and then sharpen the angle of the arm in a vise or the like by about ten/fifteen degrees, so that the arms come closer to horizontal. The more elongated mirrors together with the bending of the arms significantly widen the mirror positions and can better keep the slightly wider shoulders out of view.
The answer is very simple and may cost nothing or around 100 bath depending on the metal shop.
Remove both mirrors from your motorcycle or moped, usually a wrench with a width of 14 to 17 mm.
Go to a company that does welding.
Ask if they can cut or grind the mirror support in half and extend it with a piece of round metal, depending on your desired length.
Weld everything back together, possibly paint the rod black.
And Kees is ready.
It is best to visit a metal shop that also makes the stainless steel chromed fencing, etc.
Why buy another bike for a pair of mirror mounts.
Jan Beute.
There are simply longer mirrors available, I always had them installed when I bought them. Only other threads have to be tapped, ready while you wait and the mirror itself is also larger, which is also nice. Only between cars, just be careful.
