How is the situation in Chang Rai with smog now?
Dear readers,
We hope to go to Thailand again next year for the 30th time, but we have a question for you. Two years ago we drove full throttle from the north (Chang Rai) to the south because my bad lungs couldn't handle the smog anymore.
We would prefer to travel around the north in February, because we love nature, peace and culture. Unfortunately, I suspect that these kinds of ingrained economic phenomena will not suddenly disappear.
I would like to hear from you "experienced residents" how it is now and is Koh Chang suitable /
My thanks for your response.
Regards,
Hans

To get a good overview of the air quality in Thailand, you can install the App "Air4 Thai" on your mobile.
You will then get a good overview of the air situation in Thailand at any time of the day.
By the way, compared to other years, the air quality in Chiang Rai is not too bad.
Update; Unfortunately, for today I see the indication that the air is “Unhealthy for sensitive groups”, so it is not really optimal yet.
Air quality depends on many factors. The last 2 years it has been very bad in February. In fact, this year is still very good so far. Better than eg Pattaya or Bangkok. However, it will eventually increase and March/April are usually very bad months.
Dear Hans,
aqicn.org
On this site you can view the air quality around the world from city to hamlet
Good luck with your lungs
I cycled from Arunothai to Chiang Rai on February 8 and did not observe any air pollution or smog.
it is now a good life in Chiang Rai
Thanks again for your comments, we hope to spend 4 weeks on Koh Chang in January to completely relax.
Then we can indeed check the air quality on the internet and maybe (hopefully) it won't be too bad, we think the north offers a little more "Thailand".
Good luck there, tomorrow we will probably arrange our ticket, etc., we are betting that most of the measures will be lifted next year.
Koh Chang a pearl about 4 hours drive under Pattaya near Trat never actually noticed anything of poorer air quality we were there in Jan / Feb. and we also hope to be there again next winter with less regulation.
Koh Chang doesn't seem like a problem to me.
The rice fields and sugar cane fields are simply not in that area, so the smoke from burning rice and sugar cane will not reach there.
Furthermore, it often blows more on an island than somewhere in the north between the hills.
Koh kood and koh mak are highly recommended for relaxing.
Koh chang is already quite busy with many tourists.
