Home » Reader question » Reader question: How can I make cheap calls to the Netherlands?
Dear readers,
Previously had a phone card from “Took Dee” to call the Netherlands cheaply (approx. 1,5 baht per min, excl. domestic mobile phone rate). Unfortunately, the service to the Netherlands has stopped. The cheapest way I can find now is via number 00500 of AIS, costs 10 baht per minute excluding VAT.
Does anyone of the readers know a cheaper way. Call via a prepaid mobile phone.
Yours faithfully,
Hanso
Have an app Talk360. costs 2 cents per minute or so.
But mostly I use skype or hangout
I call via whatsapp. That costs nothing, if you have WiFi. Can also be added with image. However, the quality is sometimes poor. In that case I will try again later.
Personally, I do not understand that people today still call abroad with a prepaid or subscription mobile phone. Nowadays there are much better alternatives, such as Skype, Line, Whatsapp, etc. You only pay your internet costs. cases are a lot cheaper. I would say make a small investment and buy a smartphone or tablet, for example. Perhaps readers can supplement me in this .
You're right. But you are not alone in the world.
I regularly call my mother via mobile phone to her landline number in Belgium.
Would you like to explain to me how I can quickly teach my 93-year-old mother Skype or whatever?
You don't live alone on this planet, so I think it's a very logical and very good question from the questioner.
with skype you can buy a subscription for very little money and also call landlines, so this is not a nice answer to a normal response :) Go check the website for a suitable offer, the quality for speech is fine.
success
I have a skype subscription to call my old mother from Thailand who has a landline number. Costs €2,70 for 3 months/100 minutes. When I'm on holiday in Thailand I call her every day. Works fine, good connection
You don't have to teach your mother how to Skype, you can call fixed and mobile numbers from Skype.
You can buy a call credit with Skype for 5 euros or more. Calling fixed numbers in the Netherlands is then free…
1,5 cents per month
If she has Skype herself, you can also call a mobile or landline number. Depending on the landline or mobile number, this will cost approx. 1-3 Euro cents/minute. Put some money on your Skype account, but with € 10 you can cancel a lot.
Hello Harry,
You're absolutely right, my mistake. Should have mentioned that I want to call the tax phone abroad, I don't think they have skype, line etc.
Greetings Hanso
Sometimes it is necessary to call authorities….
I don't think they will whatsapp or skype or what ever.....
in such a case I use Skype to call their landline number. Works fine !
Call with watsapp via wifi costs nothing, you must have a bit of decent internet.
Gr William
Skype credit, few cents per minute. You do need internet on your phone.
WhatsApp
Line
=
Free
Hello
And if you don't have internet, you can use your skype in an internet cafe. Always costs less
Press a 00 between 9 and the country code.
So if you call the Netherlands eg 00 9 31 …..
Then you call for a fraction of the normal price.
The quality is sometimes a bit less, but not to the extent that you have to leave it at that.
Switch to calling via Skype.
If you buy Skype credit from €5, you can make calls all over the world from €1,5 per minute.
Download whatsapp and it's free, download line this is also free.
Succes
I always call anywhere in the world with Webcall direct, just download, pay 10 euros with your vredit card and start calling!! It is the cheapest way of calling
Good luck, Jan

Create an account via Internetcall.com and put money on it. They have their own number that starts with 010… you call them with your mobile and are asked to enter the telephone number and end with a #. This is easy, cheap and simple calling to and from abroad. Good luck.
Sorry forgot the letter, here's the link:
https://www.internetcalls.com/login
As others have also said, purchasing a smartphone is certainly cheaper. Nowadays you have plenty of options with this.
Take a look at “FreeVoipDeal.com” The other person doesn't even need to have internet.
Netherlands to landline free and to Mobile 0,018 Eurocent and the first 120 days free with an investment of 10 Euro I don't know how it is possible but it still works.
I have been using it for 17 years to full satisfaction.
Hi charles,
Can you add a little more explanation?
Do I need to download that site?
17 years of experience, please share them
Gret Josh.
Hi Jos,
Just go to FreeVoipDeal.com first and a lot will become clear.
You then have to install a file “Voip connect” on your computer and you can also install it on your mobile.
If you don't have the knowledge yourself, there is always someone nearby to help.
To Thai number landline or mobile is also free, eg the tax telephone can be called.
About 10 years ago I was able to buy a Netherlands number (1 euro) and if someone in the Netherlands calls that number, the normal telephone will ring in Thailand (Voip device) if it really does not work, you can email me [email protected] successful.
Try a bundle on Skype you can call 400 minutes to the Netherlands (other countries different prices) to fixed and mobile numbers and the quality is perfect look at this link below
https://secure.skype.com/nl/calling-rates?wt.mc_id=legacy&expo365=bundled
I would install Skype on your phone for example.
We call when we have WiFi via wattsapp. Is free.
Free with "Line" or "Whatsapp" (you do need a WiFi connection and the other side must also have one of the apps installed, but that's all).
Hours a week my wife uses line here.
An understandable question.
If sender and receiver have internet, installing an app is the cheapest for both, because it is free. The cost is then the price of both internet connections. Various apps are available Whatsap, Line, Skype, etc… We mostly use Line because many contacts in Thailand use the Line app.
If receiver or sender or both do not have internet, VOIP is the cheapest solution.
To call family members who do not have internet in Thailand, we use from BE: Telesoldes. Their website explains in simple terms how it works. Calling a Thai landline number costs 1 eurocent per minute, to a Thai mobile phone 1,5 eurocent per minute.
I know that some of my wife's Thai friends use the app 'pfingo' to call the EU. I don't know the rates for calling NL or BE, but it is a VOIP provider who undoubtedly sets similar prices in competition. Have a look at the website http://www.pfingo.com
Hello Hanso,
We use TALK360o all over the world.
Rates are per minute and apply to calls from anywhere in the world to a selected country. connection charges are 0,05 per call, no charges are made for no answer.
Via mobile calls 0,06 euro cents per minute.
Via fixed connection 0,01 eurocent per minute.
Success.
Via voipbusterpo on your computer you call a landline in NL for free. From NL with voipbusterpro on your computer to Thailand mobile you call for € 0,025 to Thailand. Calling from computer to computer via voipbusterpro costs nothing.
The problem with this cheap rate can be that your Thai partner also knows this and expects you to call every day!
If she really wants to call me. She calls my landline number on her mobile. I see that she is calling do not answer and call her back via voipbusterpro on my computer.
check out freevoip deal. same company only calls to thailand mobile is also free
if you install the mobilevoip app on your phone you can insert your abbo there. you no longer need to use the PC
Hanso,
use LINE APP is free over your internet bundle.
Calling + video calling.
quality is good to very good.
Henry
I myself use “line id” here in Asia.,
but can line id also be downloaded in the Netherlands?
Yes I also use LINE in the Netherlands.
From experience: Line is good, Skype better.
Turn it around. Take (request via internet) a (free) SIM card in NL from Delight-moblie. Top up with 5 Euro (every month), text Smart to 345 and you call for 1 cent (starting rate 10 cents) to Thailand. Call the person you want to speak to, and hang up before the contact is established and the person will call you back (he/she will see a miss call with your Thai number). I assume it is one of the few people who does not have WiFi. When I'm in NL I do this to call Thailand with people who don't have a smartphone.

Dear Hanso,
Despite my Mac and iPad, equipped with Skype and all sorts of other tricks, I regularly call my mother in France with a Nokia with pre-paid credit from True Move, because, as Dirk also reports, I cannot call my 86-year-old mother either. get more on the skype…
With True's rates, I barely lost 100 baht for more than half an hour of calling! So cheap pre-paid calling is really possible!
Regards, Maryse
If you have credit on Skype, your mother does not need to have Skype at all, you just call her landline or mobile. Quality is very good.
With a Skype subscription you can make unlimited calls to the Netherlands. Costs around 7.50 euros.
You can also take skyoe world slightly more expensive.
You can also try one month for free.
With a Skype subscription you can simply call landlines.
Calling with dtac ais or true is also possible.
Just for country code use 006 for true
For dtac this is 004
Ais also has this option.
Skyoe can be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone.
With the current prepaid or subscription costs you can use a lot of data without extreme costs.
For 499 baht you can, for example, burn 5 GB of data.
The fact remains that in certain cases you cannot use Skype if, for example, 0900 numbers have to be called
However, in addition to the 0900 number, many companies also have numbers that can be called from abroad.
Just google.
My preference is always Skype. You can simply call parents of 84 on their fixed number.
Line, whatsapp, weChat etc can be used for calling and video call. But only if both people use it.
If you have a smartphone you can download the line app and you can call all people with the line app for only internet use.
If you have a fixed internet connection, you can call the Netherlands for free with a VoIP telephone http://www.voipdiscount.com , I have been traveling from the Netherlands to Thailand for 10 years.
If you buy an iPhone, you can facetime with other people with an iPhone. Costs for internet use.
A few years ago I sometimes bought a calling card at the Thai post offices.
These were scratch cards with a code that allowed you to make cheap international calls.
I usually used it at agencies where you have to queue for a long time, such as the tax telephone.
I do not know if they are still available at the post office, there is not much information on the internet (an old facebook page).
Zayhi calling card is the name.
