Reader question: Who has already flown from Bangkok to Buriram?
Dear readers,
Who has already flown from Bangkok to Buriram? I always have to travel from Bangkok to Phayakkhaphum Phisai (Maha Sarakham Province), by taxi or bus it is 6 hours. But recently I read that one can also fly from Bangkok to Buriram and this is about 35 km from Phayakkhaphum Phisai, so this would be ideal.
Please experiences.
With greeting,
Roger
I once flew with Nokair from Buriram airport to BKK. No problem. Only the airport is about 30 km from Buriram. Would be better called Satuk airport. Go by bus these days. Is a lot cheaper. The only drawback is that it takes a little longer.
Dear Roger,
I fly somewhere every month; just to be able to see Thailand and then I rent a hotel and scooter on the spot or as just booked again to Udon Thani, with Air Asia for 3 nights, from my backyard, (I live in Lak-Si Bangkok) a flight + hotel + breakfast for 2.402 Bhat.
But that aside,
So I also flew to Buriram with Air Asia, you arrive at the airport, empty, only collectors, when they are all gone, no one left. No bus connection, no taxis nothing.
The airport appears to be about 40km from Buriram.
The airport also appears to be quite far from the main road.
Via, via then you can call a taxi, so it must come from Buriram and of course asked what it costs to Buriram, but he does not say what it costs, does not turn on the meter and eventually asks 1.200 Bhat.
So you have been warned about this.
If you have little or no luggage, you can also walk to the main road (about 1,5 km.) There the regional bus runs to Buriram, you may have to wait a few hours and I don't know what it will cost.
Next time arrange transport first.
Greetings Nico
Dear Roger,
I have flown NOK air to Buri Ram a few times, I think there are 2 flights a week, it is a boring airport and indeed empty quickly, but it seems to have changed since The Voice is being recorded there, but I know that not sure, but take a look at the site of Nok air or fly to Buri Ram then you can find everything there, I arranged transport from the airport myself.
Good luck, greetings Frans
Buriram is closest, but alternatively you could fly BKK-KKC (KhonKaen). Dozens of flights per day, both from BKK and from DMK. Flight time 45′. In 10 minutes you are by taxi in the bus terminal of KKhaen (150THB) and from there you have a bus to Surin – no. 281 every half hour (except weekend). I think it should stop where you need to be. I have to be in Tambon Donwan myself – 20 km S of
Mahasarakham, and that bus is almost passing my door. For a taxi from KKC to me I pay 1200 THB, maybe a few hundred more to you? Driving time from the taxi to me is approx. 1 hour, the bus takes 1,5 hours.
Roger, I am +/- 15 kilometers from you (surin) and have made this trip several times,
Self car / bus / plane. It is no problem at all to get to you by plane.
I always go with nok air, very easy to arrange via the internet, and well in advance too.
you can pay at 7-11, or with ATM, or from the Netherlands with your credit card.
It is indeed advisable to have someone pick you up, we always do.
I thought we lost something like 5,600 baht last construction holiday, 2 people, return!
Personally I think that's not too bad, but that's up to each person of course.
if there is a disadvantage, it could be that you depart from don muang airport with nok (I also thought air asia, but am not sure now) but if you want to continue directly from suvarnabhumi airport, there are free shuttles buses, on presentation of your nok air ticket.
i always go from pattaya, so buy 2 bus tickets to suvarnabhumi airport at “bell travel” (we are picked up at the door of the hotel, apartment) (460b 2 pers,)
And show my nok tickets at the shuttle bus, so I will be brought to Don Muang properly.
the rest goes by itself.
if you're going to do this, have a nice trip!
Ron .
Ps: buriram airport-payakhapum pisai is +/-33 km.
In the last 2 years I have flown a total of 4 times from BKK to Buriram and back with Nok air, all this to my full satisfaction. Is also very easy to book on the side of Nok air, flights are made in the afternoon.
Greetings Jan.
When you arrive in Buriram, so there is no transport?
I do continue to Chumphuang (near Phimai); is located almost level west of Satuk.
Does anyone have a taxi number in Satuk?
txs.
Harry,
As far as I know there are no "real" taxis in satuk,
About 4 tuk-tuks, I asked my girlfriend if she could get a phone number from one of those tuk-tuks for you… (don't expect fluent English…)
But .. I have indeed seen 1 or more taxis on arrival!
It could of course be that someone has to go to buriram city, and has already arranged it in advance.
In buriram city they do drive.
What you can do is the following; i will give you phone numbers from buriram airport,
Then you can ask them how, and if you can get a taxi at the airport, maybe they can arrange it
For you ! Here the numbers;
+6644680086 or +6644680077 good luck!!
just asked,
Airport staff can arrange a taxi for you !!
I did that too.
NB; so this taxi comes from Buriram (city) and doesn't say a price, don't turn on his meter and when you get there he charges the main price. For me 1.200 Bhat, according to the driver Buriram (city) > Airport > Buriram (city)
So if you have to take a taxi from Buriram airport to Phayakkhaphum Phisai, you will have to pay;
1 Buriram > Airport
2 Airport > Phayakkhaphum Phisai
3 Phayakkhaphum Phisai > Buriram
You can already start calculating Buriram > Airport > Buriram is 1.200 Bhat, let's say 2 x 35 km = 70 km
is therefore 17,15 Bhat per kilometer.
Maybe an alternative.
The airport is close to SATUK, which has a very good bus station, maybe buses go from here to Phayakkhaphum Phisai.
The distance from Satuk to Phayakkhaphum Phisai is only 35 km.
Buriram is completely in the wrong direction.
Call the Airport, phone as above and ask for transfer to Phayakkhaphum Phisai, or else Satuk.
There is certainly a bus from there to Phayakkhaphum Phisai (but I'm not sure)
Greetings Nico
