Dear readers,

We are going to Hua Hin for a week (already booked), and our question is: is there anyone who can provide more information about excursions, given the death of the King.

We had already asked a question in April, and that included very nice tips that we actually wanted to undertake, especially with Ken Diamonds Tour, suggested by someone from this blog.

But now we actually have absolutely no idea what is open or closed, and whether excursions are being done.

you can assume that all excursions will continue, except those that involve exuberant music and party.

I agree with Harry. I was on Koh Samui last week and there was actually nothing to notice that the King has passed away. Back in Bangkok last Monday, it was business as usual again after a few days of sobriety (no alcohol, many restaurants closed) as I was told.

    Hi Max,

Everything continues as normal here, only less exuberant!
    No worries

    Dear Max,

Completely correct what Harry writes. In addition, all restaurants are open (all the time). All bars are open again, but without too exuberant music and they close at midnight. The daily Nightmarket functions normally and the two shopping malls (Bluport and Market Village) are also open. In addition, from today we also have many more TV channels that broadcast their regular programs and films. So basically everything is more or less “normal” again, with the exception that a lot of black clothing colors the street scene and exuberant parties and behavior are out of the question. No reason not to come to this beautiful country and city. Enjoy it.

It has been written many times here by others on this blog, but ok, one more time.
Almost everything goes as usual with the exception of events involving loud music.
You can simply book day trips. In the gym, where I spend almost every day and where there is normally loud music, people now hear soft lounge music.
Most bars and pubs are open as usual with some adapted music, lower volume.
The Thai are in mourning, but there must also be bread on the table, so business (almost) as usual.

All comments above are correct I am now in Bkk and business as usual, the grand palace if you want to queue 1km as well as in Phuket where I live everything is business as usual, unfortunately the guests are misinformed by the foreign media as well as by some countries with their ridiculous travel advice.
    Just come

Here is a link to a fairly extensive list of how or what. Everything subject to change, of course.
