Dear readers,

I have a Thai girlfriend. We are not married. And we have a child together now 8 months old. Yesterday we went to the Dutch embassy in Bangkok. It asks for an acknowledgment certificate.

How can I obtain the certificate of recognition in Thailand?

Please your advices.

Bedankt,

Evert

A deed of acknowledgment is proof I think you are the father. And that is not so simple . I had to get a lawyer for that and then go to court with the mother. The mother must also have proof that she is not married . So it did not just happen on 1 , 2 , 3 .

If the child was born in Thailand, you and/or the mother, whether or not in the company of family/neighbors/friends, 2 of whom act as witnesses, have been reported to the town hall of the place of residence from your girlfriend. The same applies if the birth had taken place in the Netherlands, only then the procession of acquaintances would have been omitted when registering.
You should be listed as the father, and you have acknowledged your child as yours.
So go to the town hall where that birth is registered and get the desired certificate there.

This is not right; the mention as father on the birth certificate does not count as legal recognition.

Evert, are you listed as a father on her birth certificate?
If so, no problem, letter from mother with approval, have it stamped and translated. Copyright birth certificate, stamping and translation, then acknowledging the child at your municipality in NL. Actually easy. It will be difficult if there is another dad on the birth certificate, but then you will have to apply some tricks.
But again if you are on the deed, she will have a Dutch passport within a month and she will be registered as your child and you can go to the SVB in Heerlen for child benefit. Well at TH level.
    Regards, Gijs and good luck.
    PS. speak from experience.

      Thank you Thijs.
I already have a birth certificate from my daughter. It says I'm the father.
      With my last name.
So I can just go to the municipality to apply for a Dutch passport.
      Greetings Evert

The reactions of Piet Jan and van Gijs are incorrect. Marcel has given the correct answer.
The official legal recognition goes through the court (following advice from the Child Protection Board).
You do indeed have to engage a lawyer to arrange that for you, an extensive procedure.

      Thank you.
      For all comments.
It seems obvious to me to hire a lawyer.
      Greetings Evert

    Dear Evert,

Marcel is right with a birth certificate, you will not succeed since the rules have changed as of January 2012.
You will really have to hire a lawyer and go for a buy lop long fine (loosely translated),
This will have to be translated and legalized

    Good luck with it
