Reader question: Send boxes to Thailand
Dear readers,
Because I will soon be moving/emigrating to Thailand, I want to send a number of boxes to Chiang Rai. I am looking for your experiences and tips: how to pack, carriers, max. weights and the like.
Thank you in advance for your responses.
Regards,
Hansman
Depends entirely on how much you have, how big it is. Half a container, one or two cubic meters, etc. Go to a specialized moving company in Neferland and ask what is best. Because seder has its own method.
Go to Tranpack shipping in Rotterdam, they can tell you everything. In March I have a 20 ft. container shipped to Thailand very well and neatly.!!!
How big are the boxes and how much do they weigh?
I would go to the post.nl website and have a look there. Goes perfectly. Of course you have to sign, then someone has to sign along the way, and you can trace where the package is. Of course don't put valuables in it, because then it will certainly get lost.
Alternative; DHL etc. safer but SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive.
For really large and heavy consignments: look up a cargo handler in the port of Rotterdam.

Hi Hansman,
Since 3 weeks ago, my wife and I left NL for THL and sent various packages to THL in advance. This went through post.nl, the maximum weight is 20 kg. per box and costs about 107 euros incl. insurance p/pc. The boxes are for sale at Primera, where you can also have the packages shipped. You will receive a receipt with a bar code, so that you can see where your package is via the track and trace system.
Greetings and good luck for the future.
Ton
Dear Hansman.
I had it done by windmill and I was very satisfied with it. Also about the price
regards computing
I want to send five boxes of L70cm x W50cm x H20cm and each 30 kgr by post in Belgium.
That would cost me about 900 to 1000 euros. I then sent my boxes via the post in Germany and that came to me at 90 euros per box, so a large price difference between the post in Belgium and the post in Germany.
The boxes were on the road for about three weeks and all arrived unopened and undamaged.
I just had to pick them up at the post office here.
You do have to make sure that they are very sturdy boxes and that what you put in them is well packed and that the open spaces are filled very well with styrofoam or the like
hainn, a friend of mine has also moved to thailand, give your email and I'll email you greetings Joop
Hi Hansman
I also want to send some to Thailand.
But I think it is smarter and cheaper to send a container together.
If we have enough people or m3, this can be done much cheaper and safer because we put it in the container ourselves, so that it is not thrown and thrown.
And it can just openly show and share the costs per m3
So if people want it just let me know.
Gr Rob
I just calculated a 40ft container is about 70 m3
Shipping costs container plus transport I estimate at € 1500 then it will be in Bangkok.
And then you get the paperwork and import tax.
But that depends on what you are transporting.
I estimate € 100 per m3 but don't quote me on it.
Gr Rob
we would also like to send goods to Thailand, and we need at least 2m3 meters.
Hi Dick
We can do it together .
Much cheaper.
I see things here of 1 m3 for 600 €.
And they think that's cheap, am I crazy now???
What does a full container deliver on 70m3 x600 = 42000 €
I think I chose the wrong subject.
Hope more people want to join.
Gr Rob
If you just want to send a few boxes, take a look at shippingcenter.nl. There you can fill in everything in advance and you know what you have lost. e.g. for a box of 120 liters / 20 kg you pay about € 45.
The box will be picked up at your home and you can follow the package all the way with their tracking service. Usually the package is on the road for about 7 days. It then goes from your address to I thought Enschede then to Belgium where it goes on air transport. In Thailand it is delivered by post. Depending on what is stated on the customs papers, you may have to pay import duties. For me that is often arbitrary, sometimes yes, sometimes not for boxes that have the same content
hello, very often I have also had something transported by others. but windmill is the best, paperwork etc delivery to my home address in thailand.
gr. Jurgen
I myself am also planning to move to Chiang Rai at the end of the year or early next year.
Here are 2 links I found with the part load option.
http://dehaan.nl/consumenten/verhuizen/thailand/
http://www.transpack.nl/nl-nl/verhuizen.aspx
If you or anyone else knows more tips about Chiang Rai, I am not interested, as there is a club or association of expats there.
With regards
Boy
If you ship things in moving boxes, waterproof the inside with a garbage bag or something.
On one of my shipments, the box had apparently been standing in a puddle of water.
Make a crate on a pallet of about 1 cubic meter or larger, it must be able to be handled by a forklift truck.
Bring it to the Waalhaven there you have plenty of shipping companies and for about 600, - it will be delivered to Bangkok.
