Cremation options in Pattaya?
Dear readers,
Who can give me information about cremation options in Pattaya? Preferably in a Buddhist temple. Do you know any such temple by name in Pattaya? Do you have any idea of the costs? All useful tips and information are welcome.
I assume that as a farang you can be cremated in Thailand (Pattaya) without too many problems.
Many thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Noy (NL)

cremation in pattaya.
You come across many wats when you travel in pattaya. Whether or not cremation takes place is easy to see: there is a building on or near the temple grounds with a high tower or chimney. That's the incinerator
There is also always a choice package..
How many days BEFORE the cremation, how many monks for recitals..
How often a recital,,,
An acquaintance of mine was cremated at the temple of Wat Boon at the time..
Neatly arranged by Thai88 Law, who also arranges cremations.
The Australian MD was himself speaking master (Kelvin Bamfield).. We heard the deceased's favorite music, and only 3 monks came to give a recital for about 20 minutes.. The organizer himself told about the life of the deceased, as the family couldn't get over due to covid...
Everything was over in an hour. The deceased was himself an atheist
Kelvin's wife Jeab runs the funeral program, and they also do all the necessary activities, such as embassy sign-off, City hall, corpse transport to/from hospital.. Probate of will at court etc
You can find everything on their website..
Dear Noy, cremation takes place all over Thailand. Every temple with a burning building can be approached. The costs are negotiable, but about 100.000 baht is often asked here in Pattaya at a simple temple. Sometimes it can be done for less, but then contacts are important. The cause of death must also be known and the necessary documents must be available so that the cremation can be performed. Sometimes permission from the police is required and the Dutch embassy must always be informed. There's quite a bit involved. There is information about this on Thailand blog, because this has been discussed before. An acquaintance of mine was cremated last year in Pattaya, Pong area located on Mabprachan (Lake Mabprachan) lake and Pornprapanimit rd. Is the same road (soi siam country rd) that eventually comes out at the golf club.
100.000 is a lot. I think it is much cheaper.
I don't know who should be cremated, but there will probably be some administrative work involved, you can't just slide a foreigner into the oven in Thailand without informing the country of birth.
I would start by contacting the embassy about this.
Today I went to a cremation. It was in Jomtien. Wat Mai Hat Krathingthong. That's on the beach. I know first hand that various papers are required. No one enters the stove without an official document. But of course that also makes sense. You can negotiate the price. It's all just what you want. More monks is more money. Of course it can also be done easily. Today it was very extensive.
I don't think it matters which temple you go to. Check whether there is a tall narrow chimney. It's not everywhere. For example, in soi watboom in Jomtien, cremation can no longer take place.
But above all, inform in time.
On this Thailandblog you will find the topic “death in Thailand”. Can be found on the left side when you scroll down, under “Dossiers”. Could be interesting, at least it makes it clear that a lot of bureaucracy is involved.
The large temple in the middle of Pattaya also has a cremation oven. Opposite that sports field at the intersection at Second Road and coming off the road from Beach road.
