Home » Reader question » Which exchange office at the airport in Bangkok will give you the best rate?
Dear readers,
At which exchange office at the airport of Bangkok you get the best conditions?
Regards,
Mark (BE)
If it is not really necessary, it is better not to exchange at the airport, the exchange rates are generally very bad there.
Dear Mark,
What you are telling people here is completely out of the blue. If you go to the bottom floor where the trains arrive and depart, you have several exchange offices and there is one that has the most. And that is Superrich The green admittedly. There it is today Monday, May 13, 35,40 .
Best Regards
Lung
It is best to exchange 100 euros at the airport. And the rest at your holiday destination. The airport gives a very bad course. There is a currency exchange office on every corner in Pattaya. They often give the best rate.
In the basement at the entrance to the train station you have two Superrich exchange offices. Both offices give noticeably better exchange rates and there is almost always a queue. It is definitely worth taking the escalator down.
At the airport is Super Rich downstairs.
It has the best rate.
But you better just change somewhere else, this can save 2-5 bath per EURO.
mvg
Which Super Rich? There are at least 3 companies with that name, 2 of which are at the airport in the basement. There are also a few others in the basement (from where the Airport Rail Link leaves for the city). Except for the official banks, all these offices in the basement use the same exchange rate. In Bangkok itself, the rate is just a little better. For example, I got off the Airport Rail Link at Paya Thai, where the exchange rate was a few tenths of a baht more favorable.
Unless you come to exchange thousands of euros, exchanging euros (notes of 100 euros or more) in the basement of the airport, just before the train, is quite reasonable. Spending a few euros extra elsewhere usually doesn't pay off unless you have to be in central Bangkok or something. Just going around saying that 'a' SuperRich is the best, no, that is not necessarily true. Don't be blinded by a name, take a tour. Everything is within a radius of 50 meters in the basement.
A few tenths of a baht more favorable would have been the rate in Bangkok center at the head offices of Vasu, Linda and the 3 different Super Rich companies (orange, green, blue):
– Vasu Exchange (http://www.vasuexchange.com/)
– Super Rich Thailand (https://www.superrichthailand.com/)
– Super Rich 1965 (http://www.superrich1965.com/)
– Grand Superrich (http://www.grandsuperrich.com/)

Was there a month ago, in the bottom floor. The old exchange offices, 3 pieces or so, have been moved to the back of the Airportlink ticket office. Slightly to the right as you look down at the top of the slope for those in the know. But a number have been added, including even a counter from the Kasikorn Bank. The latter even gave a better rate for the Euro than the various Superrich counters. And ditto there is a 2nd official bank counter with comparable good rates as the others. Yes yes things are moving forward in Thailand, now that the exchange rates in the rest of the airport are getting to a “Superrich” level and every tourist is starting to smile in Thai style upon arrival.
worth adding, http://www.thailandexchanges.com may have EVEN more exchanges listed, including the one on suvarnabhumi
That site is indeed even more useful. A snapshot (which shows that the 'basement' at Swampie airport is a 0,2+ baht difference compared to main offices in central BKK):

Only for very large amounts of more than a few thousand euros is it worth going specifically to the center of BKK. For a few hundred to 1-2 thousand euros you are not really bad off at the airport or various other popular locations (elsewhere in Bangkok, some major cities elsewhere).
If you go to an ordinary bank, you are a thief of your own wallet.
For the rest, the thousand and one blogs about exchanging money apply: do not exchange just before or after border control at the airport, only in the basement. Don't go to a regular bank. Eve look around and know that you can't say 'go to Super Rich' because there are several companies with that name... and several competitors with other names that are about as good. But yes, I'll just keep cutting and pasting that a million times until the penny drops again... 555
Yes, on the ground floor at Superrich on the train.
Superrich in town on Silom Road and opposite Central world give the best rate.
Also Super Rich Thailand.
Just go to the basement at the airport and compare the exchange rate.

In the basement at the ARL you get the best exchange rate, hard to find a better one. They have moved a 100 meters and think there are 3 different ones that give the same course. It is better to stay away from the airport itself and somewhere near a bank. Last week it was 3 thb per Euro.
In my opinion, none. In my opinion you always get a lower rate for your euro than outside the airport.
The difference is not too bad, the best rate (with notes of 100-500) at the time of writing is 35,40 THB for 1 euro (center of Bangkok). At the airport in the basement, all exchange offices (that do not belong to a regular bank) charge 35,25 THB per euro. A difference of 0,15 THB.
For a thousand euros that makes (1000×0,15=) 150 THB difference
At 2 thousand euros, that makes ( 2000 × 0,15 =) 300 THB difference.
Nice but to make a special detour to the center and then on to elsewhere .. then you have almost lost that money on travel costs.
Only with large amounts does wages start to change in the basement, but I don't spend that much on my holiday: at 5000 euros (5000×0,15=) = 750 THB difference (that's 1 night in a cheap hotel room, but (not even minus the travel costs, maybe you'll get a dinner out of it).
But if a better exchange rate is within walking distance of your hotel, or where you happen to pass by, then yes, it is nice to put a few hundred extra baht in your pocket by making smart exchanges outside the airport. It is simply a fact that you will not get the best possible course at the airport.
Dear Marc, Superrich is on the lowest floor. These almost always give the highest rate in Thailand. Not everyone is aware of this, which is why you get well-intentioned but wrong advice.
Just check on the internet, google it and you will see the differences.
Follow the taxi or train station signs and you will get there automatically.
You will find the best exchange rate at VASU on Sukhumvit road, corner of Soi 7 diagonally across BTS Nana in Bangkok!
that was once a great address but later I had (sometimes) different experiences. Still worth visiting this exchange office (once a travel agency)!
I was in Bangkok two months ago and there was no more Super Rich office down in the airport.
There are 4 or 5 other offices that all gave approximately the same (favorable) price.
I don't know if Super Rich is gone permanently, but the airport at the Airport Railway Link is the best option.
New address is. Exchange zone B.
Does superrich also give better rates than the banks?
This is the place where the local come to exchange VASU Sukumvit soi 7/1 compare to superrich, or goldsmit in China town, they give the best exchange rate of all.
Either you look around yourself at the airport or you prepare yourself, ie do not change at the airport. Or only 5 euros for the train to phao prao and change there.
Second comment is about superrich .. It is not the case that they give the same exchange rate everywhere .. It is good to look on the website of superrich where the highest exchange rate is given. It is recommended to go to mts station Rama 9. However, the best rate is given in Nana area, which saves many baht .. The best time in the morning is the highest rate there ...
best is a comparison page like http://www.thailandexchanges.com
so as soon as you land, look right at your phone call, et voila 🙂
@Hansie Thank you!!!
That site is very useful indeed!
Maybe the admins here can immediately replace that fake exchange rate somewhere on the left side of Thailandblog for such a new table thingy I saw on https://www.thailandexchanges.com/banners.php
I just don't know if the administrators read this? (if so, here it is!) Furthermore, a beautiful and above all clean, well-arranged site, I regularly go to Sippakorn myself. That's an exchange literally on the corner of my house in BangNa, and I just sent that site an email asking if they can add it to their site, then I was helped in one fell swoop haha!
Anyway, so you see, Superrich (orange or green) is not always the one with the best course.
@Kees, yes... if you change with cash, a bank is less advantageous, but via an ATM is in my opinion the most advantageous!!
Super Rich is the cheapest exchange office at the airports and beyond.
Maybe it has nothing to do with exchanging euros at the airport, but I always get a good rate in Naklua Pattaya. If you walk from the Dolphin roundabout to Naklua, there is another one on the left at the Family Mart or a little further on the left side. Yesterday, May 13, I received THB 05 for €50 notes.
It has been said several times, Superrich in the basement sets a very good course in my experience.
