Home » Reader question » Reader question: How best to travel from Bangkok airport to Buri Ram?
Dear people,
Are there blog readers who can give me tips on the best way to travel from Bangkok airport to buri ram?
We stay there for 9 days in December 2014.
Yours faithfully,
Harrie
Dear Harrie, if you want the easiest and fastest way, go to the taxi stand at the airport (the official one) and ask what a taxi costs to Buriram, if they see that you have no idea about prices they will charge you a high price. start, but a reasonable price to Buriram is about 3500 to 4500 bath., it is about a 5 hour drive, good luck
I have been to Buriram for 5 years, always by plane, 1200 to 1500 Bath per man, I don't remember the days, greetings Henri
The usual route by public transport is:
:
taxi or bus to Mochit big bus station
then your own pick from the many types of buses to BR-they go pretty much every hour.
BUT: a common mistake is to think that Buriram is just the city, it is also the name of the province and your destination may be 50-80 km from the city.
If you prefer a taxi: it is often the case that taxi 1 will take you to an acquaintance who specializes in such long journeys, so change somewhere near BKK
IF you go to relatives or acquaintances, ask them to arrange something like a rental car or van and to wait for you
You can also take a taxi to the northern NCA bus station (Mo Chit), please note NCA has its own bus station and from there VIP buses drive directly to Buriram city in five hours http://primia.net/thaibus/ .
There are also other bus companies that run from the normal bus station, but I find them less good than NCA and they take longer http://www.thailandee.com/eng/transportation-thailand/buses-to-buriram .
You can also take the Nok Air plane from the second airport (Don Muang), but it only flies once a day, on Thursdays and Saturdays http://www.nokair.com/nokconnext/aspx/index.aspx
Then there is the train, but I had a bad experience with that two weeks ago, it took about ten hours and I still had the Rapid http://www.thailandbytrain.com/NorthEasternLine.html
Hi Harry,
Last January we took a taxi van from Khorat (Nakhon Ratchasima) to International airport
in Bangkok, this is about 4 hours drive, depends a bit on the traffic. We were with
3 people plus luggage and paid 4000 baht.
Good luck!, Ing
With Airport Link from airport to Phaya Thai station terminus 40 bath
Skytrain from Phaya Thai to Mochit 40 bath
From Mochit BTS station by taxi to Muchit Bus Terminal 60 bath
From Mochit Bus Terminal to Buriram 300 bath
These are target prices!
Faster and easier by taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Mochit Bus Terminal 300 bath
There are several bus companies on Buriram. Look carefully at the comfort offered (air conditioning, adjustable seats, space between the seats) because these can vary considerably. NCA has a good reputation – journey time approx. 6 hours
Online booking at bus service Nakonchaiair. It runs daily almost every hour from Bangkok to Buriram. You are on the road for about 5 hours. The buses are spacious and clean. English is spoken at the counters and on the telephone. This link tells you how it works. http://www.renegadetravels.com/booking-online-nakhonchai-air-buses-thailand/ and site NCA http://www.nca.co.th/main.html In Bangkok you can take a taxi to the bus terminal. Have a good trip and have fun in Buriram.
Dear Harry,
I have been traveling to Buriram for several years. From the airport I take a taxi over the toll road to Nakhonchai Air Bus station in Bangkok .. about 30km. I pay about 350 bath for this plus the toll about 90 bath. The toll is on top of the costs for the taxi. At the bus terminal I buy a bus ticket for about 380 baht. I then travel in a luxurious air-conditioned bus and have a reserved spacious seat. Food is served along the way and you get a bottle of drinking water, soy milk, peanuts and chips. The journey takes about 6 hours.
I like this very much and I can definitely recommend it. Luggage goes for free and is labeled / numbered before check-in. You will receive a copy of this label.
You can find departure times with Google on the internet. There is a bus about every hour.
I hope this information is of some use to you
Antonius
In recent years we usually take the taxi to Kalasin (Bangkok – Kalasin 525 km) paid 4000 Bath last November.
Yes..by bus I pay between 1300 -2000 Bath.p/p
Nice city Buriram…..have fun !

Why not be adventurous by train? You see something and you can get off and continue traveling on the next train.
Bus about 500 bath
Thanks everyone for the comments.
I am now fully aware of the different ways to get to buri ram.
We stay there in buriram city in the muang resort. also pizza restaurant.
Also seems to have a Dutch owner.
It seems like a great place to serve as a base for family visits.
Anyone experience this?
Excellent choice, small hotel in the center, with nice large rooms and a nice swimming pool, Siebe, the owner, is indeed a Dutchman, he comes from Zeewolde and is a pleasant young guy who is always up for a chat, he can also give you give good advice about Buriram,
The restaurant is known as one of the best in Buriram, with very good pizzas, European and Thai food on the menu, he even has tasty bitterballen on the menu, but that's where it ends, in terms of Dutch snacks.
I always rent a pick-up 900-1000 per day, unlimited kilometers, runs on diesel, you have transport for 9 days to look around, 5000 there and 5000 back by taxi, it costs the same, I don't get on a bus for anything. If you don't want to drive yourself, I have a good taxi for your spacious seat and a good driver, costs 5000 bath 0895255991 or 0853193914 mr somjai tell him that you have the number of big farang from holland.
