AOW not deposited to my Thai bank?
Dear readers,
Have a strange situation with the AOW. I have been receiving these every month for 7 years around the 16th of the month. However, not this month of April. SVB says it transferred the money on 14-04-2022. And my Thai bank (GSB) says it has not received it. SVB says we deposited it to the same number as always, and the Thai bank keeps saying we have not received anything.
Both benches are pointing at each other, what to do?

Henk, can't you log in to My SVB and check the bank number? Otherwise, the SVB may have a transaction number for you on which the Thai bank can search.
I tend to believe the SVB rather than the Thai bank, especially as the transaction came in the middle of Songkran.
The SVB transfers it and they are responsible for their own transfers, I think. Then hold them liable in an email because if it has not arrived, it is their business to inquire through their bank where the money has gone. Ultimately, the money belongs to the SVB, it has not been deposited into your account and you have therefore received nothing. Show your bank details to SVB and point out their duty of care to transfer the money. If necessary, they will do it again. And especially do not ask the receiving bank because that is a task for the person who made the transfer, the SVB.
Did you take Good Friday and Easter into account around that time. An expected credit transfer made on Thursday before Good Friday only arrived after Easter.
I had a big problem with the SVB in the past. I then contacted the Ombudsman, with success! Then they did contact me.

With Songkran the Thai banks are closed and the weekend also on Monday the banks wake up, so it must be deposited by now.
It is not the first time, last year too, there were all those holidays in Thailand and the Netherlands, so not the problem of the SVB or Dutch and Thai banks, but holidays.
Yes, that is actually a myth, computers don't have a holiday, but it is nice for the banks if they can hold the money longer. You can see this, for example, if you use Wise and it will be on your account in seconds.
Ger-Korat that is not a correct comparison. Money from Wise comes from a Thai account, and money from the SVB comes from abroad. I think there is a 'clearing' somewhere that doesn't work or works slower during the holidays.
Wise does exactly the same, you transfer to an account in Europe and then they send an electronic order to make a booking from their Thai bank, everything fully automated. It works the same way with a clearing and sufficient countervalue is ensured at the clearing house. No human being involved at all and with millions of transactions per day that is also impossible, computers do the work.
