Dear readers,

I have another question regarding connection to domestic flights in Thailand. Booked a flight with Thai Airways arriving at Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi on 7/09 at 5.35:XNUMXam.

I wish to book a connecting flight with Bangkok Airways to Sukhothai. However, this flight departs at 7.00:XNUMX. Is there an agreement between Thai and Bangkok Airways to forward my luggage to Sukhothai. If possible I can catch that flight. If I have to collect my luggage in BKK and check in again, this is not possible. Does anybody have experience with this?

Many thanks for answer.

Regards,

Roel

Bangkok Airways has an agreement with Thai Airways regarding baggage forwarding, see http://www.bangkokair.com/pages/view/check-in-through
However, Sukothai is not listed among the destination airports for which this applies.

      Even then:

“EXCEPT SU-AEROFLOT and QF-Qantas, separate tickets cannot be checked through.”
Perhaps useful for other people with the same question: ALWAYS book your connecting flights in one go, under one ticket.

I am afraid that there is no cooperation between Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways. Not in reality anyway, because according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok_Airways#Codeshare_agreements is there indeed a codeshare agreement between the 2. So I would just ask Thai Airways. (if you are leaving Belgium, you can give it a try via [email protected])
If your luggage cannot be labeled through to Sukhothai, I think 1h25 is very short. In theory it should be possible, but I don't recommend it.
Is it not possible to reverse your travel planning and, for example, fly to Chiang Mai first?

forget that connection but you will never finish your connection (pass check and the long wait) and no cooperation with Thai Air BKK Air, a night's sleep is the best solution, otherwise have a good trip.

Train is also an option and much cheaper.

    • Mr. Thailand says up

      No, that's not an option.
To take the train, you must first go to the train station. (You do that best with the airport rail link and mrt) Takes at least 40 minutes.
Then you need to take the train to Phitsunalok. Takes at least 6 hours. Then another taxi to the bus station and a bus to Sukhothai.
Total: 10 hours on the road and probably more than €45 for that flight.

    Roel ,

Time is way too short, you won't save it.
Sometimes the plane from the Netherlands arrives too late and then you can completely forget about it.
With an interval of 4 hours, it is generally possible, but if you indicate in the Netherlands when checking in luggage that you want to continue as transit with your luggage, it will save a lot of time and having to lug around your luggage at the airport in Bangkok.

    Dear readers,

    Thanks for responses.
Also think that the interval will be too short. Have another flight around 15pm.
Will be safer to take that option.
    Sincerely.

You have too little time because you have to go through customs first. Rob

    Welcome to Thailand.

Checking through the luggage will not be possible because Sukhothai is not an international airport and there is therefore no customs and immigration service there.

Willem van der Vloet is the only one with the correct answer. It is not possible at all because Sukhothai has no international airports such as Chiang Mai, where there are facilities for customs and passport activities.
Incidentally, I do not understand why people, if they already want something like this, do not do this in 1 booking so that you are assured of a good transfer for both yourself and the luggage. If you miss a flight due to a delay, everything will be booked immediately and without further costs to the next flight.

Hello, my wife and I live in Sukhothai, we had no problems with flight arrival at 05.35:07.00 am and domestic flight at 10:XNUMX am, we did book a domestic flight ticket via the internet and if you have a Bangkokair membership card, you can take an extra XNUMX kilos of luggage with you. , Greetings.

What you can also do is only book a ticket after arriving at Suvarnabhumi by booking another ticket at the service desk or online with your smartphone. It may be that the flight is fully booked, but then there is less stress than if your international flight is slightly delayed.
