Last month I posted this message: “I am currently in Bangkok, for the first time with KLM. A few days ago I received the message that my return flight on 16/1 has been cancelled. I now see that this is also the case for the flight on 13/1. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Operational problems were given as the reason.

As an alternative return flight, a flight was offered that took no less than 20 hours! From BKK to Dubai, from Dubai to London and from London to AMS. I actually find this scandalous. So I canceled and booked EVA Air as usual.”

I then simultaneously submitted a claim for damages to KLM, in accordance with EU regulations, and requested the return of my ticket. My ticket was refunded almost immediately, I received the amount of the damage claim last week: 600 euros.

To my own surprise, the transaction went very smoothly.

That's another way to do it. Good and sporty of you to report this.

On the 13th there was no pilot for the flight. My flight was also canceled and I also received compensation quite quickly.
