Hereby the follow-up to my question of January 8, 2017 'Transport from Phuket Airport to Briza beach Resort Khao Lak. The hotel asked 1600 THB – wasn't that a bit expensive? Readers' opinions were divided.

We opted for convenience and so indeed had us picked up by the hotel, ie the hotel sent us a driver, who was already waiting for us on arrival and brought us neatly to Briza.

During our stay we rented a scooter and made trips along the coast. Just before Khao Lak center we saw a shop with the inscription 'Cheaper than hotel / taxi Boss. Here was a very professional lady who took down our details and quoted a price of 1000 THB for the ride to the airport.

On the day of departure, a taxi was in front of the hotel well in time and the driver took us to the airport on time for 1000 BHT. If that day Bangkok airways flight PG276 had also left so punctually, we would have been very happy. Unfortunately, we were at the airport until late in the evening that day due to a massive delay! But this aside.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Regards,

Hans

Always nice to hear how something like this turned out in the end.
Prices towards the airport are often lower than the other way around.
All in all very reasonable for the spoiled traveler.

Boss charges 1.000 baht both ways.

As Frans rightly points out, the fares to the airport are usually somewhat lower. In hindsight you might have used the 'Taxi Boss' on arrival, but you didn't know that at the time. For 600 Bath difference (€ 16, =) you now had the certainty that a hotel taxi was waiting for you upon arrival at Phuket Airport. By the way, I assume that you enjoyed your stay at Briza Beach Resort. I've been there before and had a great time,

Indeed we enjoyed our stay in Briza - the food was delicious and the hotel is right on the beach but beach beds and umbrellas were not on the beach but on the hotel grounds in
the grass- some people sat on a towel in the sand.
The empty beach was very beautiful without all those beds = pure nature!

Usually hotels charge at least 2 times as much as the most common taxi price for a limousine service.
